The metal oxide surge arrester with series gap developed by our company is used in urban rail transit systems to protect the insulation safety of contact network insulators from overvoltage and ensure the safe operation of the power supply system. The product consists of a lightning arrester body, discharge gap, and metal connection fixing parts, and is installed in parallel with the contact network insulator. During normal operation, due to the isolation effect of the discharge gap, there is no current flowing through the lightning arrester body, and there is no aging phenomenon. When the line is damaged by lightning strikes or other overvoltage, gap discharge occurs, and the lightning arrester body reliably operates to limit the amplitude of the overvoltage within the range that the insulator can withstand, ensuring the normal operation of the system. The product has passed comprehensive type tests at the National Electrical Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, as well as short-circuit current tests and explosion-proof performance tests. At the same time, it has also passed 2 million mechanical vibration tests at the Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center of the Ministry of Railways in accordance with TB/T 2073 "Technical Conditions for Contact Network Components of Electrified Railways" and TB/T 2074 "Test Methods for Contact Network Components of Electrified Railways". The tests have proved that the product structure is reasonable and the anti vibration performance is reliable. To record the operation of the lightning arrester, our company has also developed a series gap metal oxide lightning arrester with counting function (patent number:. 5), which does not increase the residual voltage of the lightning arrester, has reliable operation, does not require external power supply, and is very easy to install. The product has been running in major urban rail transit systems such as Shenzhen, Beijing, Nanjing, Changsha, Guangzhou, Nanning, and Zhengzhou for many years, with good protection and stable operation.
