In the variable frequency speed regulation system, the deceleration or shutdown of the motor is achieved by reducing the frequency. At the moment of reducing the frequency, the phase of the rotor current changes almost 180 degrees, and the motor changes from an electric state to an electric braking state. The regenerated energy of the motor needs to be converted into thermal energy and consumed by installing a braking resistor on the DC side of the inverter. High power frequency converters also need to be equipped with braking resistors for normal or emergency braking when applied in fields such as chemical, military, and shipbuilding.
When braking subway, light rail, and tram vehicles, excess electrical energy is converted into heat energy for consumption, thereby achieving the goal of safe electric braking of the vehicles. Principle: When the electrical energy generated by electric braking of a vehicle cannot be stored or absorbed by the power grid, the chopper module is triggered to convert the electrical energy into thermal energy for dissipation by the braking resistor device.
Installation: Connected to the vehicle body through bolts, its external structure and installation method depend on the structural requirements of the host factory's vehicle body.
Connection: Braking resistor devices are generally used in main or auxiliary circuits, or can suppress instantaneous overvoltage caused by idling or pantograph jumping during traction and braking conditions.
