What are the bulk density and water absorption of stone?

The bulk density is the ratio of the mass to the volume of the stone. A high density indicates the specific gravity and volume of the rock, and it has high stability during processes such as sawing, grinding, throwing, and cutting.

The water absorption rate refers to the ability of stone to absorb water, reflecting the number, size, distribution, and connectivity of pores inside the stone.

The water absorption rate of rocks is generally less than 1.5%, and those with a water absorption rate of less than 0.5% can be considered to have good weathering resistance and frost resistance. Therefore, frost resistance tests are not required.

What is bending strength and the bending resistance of stone?

Bending strength is equivalent to the previously referred bending resistance, which refers to the ability of a certain specification of decorative panel to resist fracture at two support points.

The bending strength of stone is much lower than its compressive strength, which has been tested to be about 1/14 to 1/8 of its compressive strength. Generally, the compressive strength can be used to roughly estimate its bending strength. The greater the bending strength, the less likely the board is to break.

According to the "JC205-92 Natural Granite Building Board" standard, the bending strength shall not be less than 8.0MPa, and according to the "JC79-92 Natural Marble Building Board" standard, the bending strength shall not be less than 7MPa
