Light aging test chamberIt is a specialized environmental testing equipment that simulates natural lighting, temperature and humidity, rainfall and other environmental factors to conduct artificial accelerated aging tests on materials and products. Its core function is to quickly evaluate the weather resistance of materials and predict their aging failure patterns in actual use environments. It is widely used in industries such as plastics, rubber, coatings, textiles, photovoltaics, and automotive parts.
Core working principle
By simulating ultraviolet light, visible light, and even infrared light in sunlight with a work light source, combined with a temperature and humidity control system and a spray/condensation device, the aging stress in the natural environment is amplified, and the aging effect of materials outdoors for months or even years can be reproduced in a short period of time (days to months).
The essence of aging is that ultraviolet radiation in light destroys the chemical bonds of material molecules, and temperature, humidity, and condensation accelerate this process, ultimately leading to problems such as discoloration, cracking, powdering, and decreased strength of the material. Core components
1. Light source system
Different light sources correspond to different testing standards and material types:
-* * UV Fluorescent Lamp * *: Commonly used, divided into UVA-340 (simulating ultraviolet light in sunlight, wavelength 340nm, close to natural aging), UVB-313 (short wave ultraviolet light, fast aging speed, suitable for rapid screening and material selection)
The material is mainly used to test the UV aging performance of materials.
-Xenon arc lamp: simulates full spectrum sunlight (UV+visible+infrared), with an aging effect closer to natural outdoor environments. It is suitable for materials with high requirements for light spectrum (such as coatings and automotive exterior parts), but the cost is high
Higher.
What Aipei currently does not supply is - * * metal halide lamps * *: which combine ultraviolet and visible light, and are partially used for accelerated aging testing in specific industries.
2. Temperature and humidity control system**
-Temperature control: It can simulate the temperature difference between day and night, usually within the range of * * RT+10 ℃~80 ℃ * *, and some equipment can achieve lower or higher temperatures.
-Humidity control: The relative humidity range is generally * * 30%~98% RH * *, combined with a light source to create a humid and hot aging environment.
3. Spray/Condensation System**
-Spray function: Simulate rainfall and dew, wash the surface of materials, and accelerate material aging and cracking.
-Condensation function: Condensation is formed by the humidity difference inside the box, which adheres to the surface of the sample and simulates aging in a high humidity environment.
4. * * Control System**
Using PLC or touch screen control, it can set lighting time, temperature and humidity parameters, spray cycle, etc., support automatic program operation, record test data, and ensure the repeatability and accuracy of the experiment.
Main testing standards
Light aging test chamberCorresponding industry standards must be followed to ensure the reliability and comparability of test results. Common standards include:
-GB/T 16422: Plastic laboratory light source exposure test method (commonly used in China).
-ASTM G154: Fluorescent UV Lamp Exposure Test Standard (American Society for Testing and Materials).
-ASTM G155: Xenon Arc Lamp Exposure Test Standard.
-ISO 4892: Methods for exposing plastics to laboratory light sources (International Organization for Standardization).
Typical application scenarios
1. * * Coatings/Paint Industry * *: Test the color retention and adhesion of coatings in light and rain environments, and determine whether there will be fading or peeling.
2. * * Automotive industry * *: Testing the aging resistance of components such as bumpers, instrument panels, and seals to ensure long-term use without cracking or deformation.
3. * * Photovoltaic industry * *: Test the anti UV aging ability of photovoltaic module packaging materials (such as EVA film) to ensure the service life of the modules.
4. Textile industry: Testing the color fastness of fabrics and dyes after sun exposure to avoid fading and yellowing of clothing.
Purchase precautions
1. * * Clarify testing requirements * *: Select the light source based on the material type (UV lamps are low-cost, xenon lamps are closer to nature).
2. * * Pay attention to the size of the test chamber * *: Ensure that it can accommodate samples and meet batch testing requirements.
3. * * Standard Compliance * *: Select equipment that meets industry testing standards to ensure data traceability.
4. * * Control accuracy * *: The control accuracy of temperature, humidity, and light intensity directly affects the test results, and high-precision equipment should be prioritized.
