Legionella pneumophila is a ubiquitous bacterium that often appears in air conditioning systems and secondary water supply systems during summer. It has the ability to grow in natural habitats and adapt to other environments with similar characteristics, such as the human body. If not detected and treated in a timely manner, it has a high mortality rate. If inhaled, Legionella pneumophila can enter the lungs for replication, leading directly to a life-threatening infection: Legionnaires' disease.
In previous tests, Legionella was a difficult bacterium to cultivate and detect.
Using Mika,Now it can be detected and counted by culturing in a petri dish for 48 hours (standard method takes 10 days)---Legionella pneumophila.
