FlawExplorer is a laser shear non-destructive testing sensor designed for post production quality control applications or on-site (in-service) component testing. According to the application, sensors can be configured with thermal or vacuum excitation systems, and can also achieve automation. It adopts the latest phase-shifting technology to provide accurate and reliable measurement results through clear and sharp imaging and sub micron displacement resolution.

The FlawExplorer sensor is included in a lightweight (5kg/11)Ib)In the device. Only two connections are needed to make it a sensor; One for power supply and one for camera data. With integrated imaging and control electronics, the sensor integrates a (standard) 3.2MPx or (optional) 5MPx CMOS camera with maximum frame rates of 37 and 24Hz respectively, a zoom lens, 8 (3R class) semiconductor laser tubes, automatic cropping, automatic projection calibration, and phase-shifting piezoelectric. The sensor is housed in an aluminum casing with a detachable safety ring, and FlawExplorer's robust design is designed to withstand impacts, knocks, and vibrations.

Compared with any non-destructive testing method, laser shear imaging has one of the highest detection rates, especially because it utilizes a large field of view using multiple coherent semiconductor laser tubes(FoV)。

FlawExplorer uses 8 semiconductor laser tubes to generate a large illumination area=field of view (FoV). For the standard 3.2MPx camera, the projected image size that can be achieved in one shot can reach 2.9 m x 2.1 m (9.4ft x 7.0ft). Or for the optional 5.0MPx camera, the detection speed of FlawExplorer can reach 3.4m x 2.8m (11.2ft x 9.3ft), which is comparable to any other non-destructive testing technologyCompared to, provideHigh throughput, time-saving inspection.

The FlawExplorer system can be automated, including camera and thermal triggers, display settings, filters, and control parameters. Whether installed on a robotic arm, linear wire, or XY gantry, sensors use dedicated communication protocols that allow interaction between FlawExplorer software, Istra4D, and autonomous PLC interfaces. The numerous successful automation projects for various NDT applications in laser shear imaging have driven the standardization requirements for robot integration. This possibility is now offered as a standard software module option to achieve repeatable testing.

Istra4D software is Dantec Dynamics' advanced laser cutting software, intuitive and easy to use. Through a clear user workflow, users can easily control all relevant measurement configuration parameters, including Brightness, Shear, Projection, and Visualization settings. Users can easily perform real-time measurements and perform advanced post-processing analysis on the collected results. Regardless of the non-destructive testing application, Istra4 is the imaging backbone behind all Dantec laser shear imaging systems.

Istra4D software demonstrates the phase display of multiple debonding in aluminum honeycomb components using manual vacuum control for vacuum partial excitation in the aerospace industry

Technical advantages:

1) Non contact and non-destructive: No need to touch the tested object to avoid damage to the material.

2) Fast and efficient: A single detection can cover a large area (such as several square meters), suitable for online detection.

3) High sensitivity: capable of detecting micrometer level deformation, suitable for internal defects in complex materials such as composite materials and honeycomb structures.

4) Real time visualization: Defects are directly presented in the form of images for quick interpretation.

5) Anti environmental interference: Compared to traditional interference techniques, shear speckle has better adaptability to vibration and temperature changes.

Application Scenario:

Aerospace: Testing for debonding or delamination of aircraft skins, composite laminates, and honeycomb structures.

Automotive manufacturing: Evaluate the quality of adhesive joints, battery pack packaging, and carbon fiber components.

New energy: detection of hidden cracks in photovoltaic panels, identification of internal defects in wind blades.

Electronic packaging: detection of chip packaging delamination and solder joint virtual soldering.

Cultural relic protection: detecting internal hollowing or cracks in murals and wooden structures.
