Instrument Introduction:
The LTQ Orbitrap combined Fourier transform mass spectrometry integrates LTQ with the obtained Orbitrap technology, adding the high-resolution and high-quality accuracy of orbital trap technology on the basis of LTQ sensitivity and speed, and possessing the ability to quickly, sensitively, and reliably detect compounds from complex systems. The obvious advantages of LTQ Orbitrap in terms of mass accuracy, resolution, and multi-stage mass spectrometry (MSn) capability make it rapidly replacing TOF mass spectrometry in various application fields. LTQ Orbitrap has a wide range of applications, from the identification of conventional compounds to the analysis of trace substances in complex systems with strict requirements.
LTQ Orbitrap is a combined mass spectrometer system that integrates Finnigan LTQ linear ion trap mass spectrometer and orbital trap mass analyzer. The ions generated at the atmospheric pressure ion source are captured by the LTQ mass analyzer. Once in the ion trap, these ions can be analyzed using scanning modes such as LTQ MS or MS n. Then, the ions are discharged axially from the LTQ and enter a C-shaped ion trap (C-trap), which then passes through the C-trap and enters the Orbitrap mass analyzer. By rapidly increasing the voltage of the Orbitrap center electrode, ions from the C-trap can be captured, and the captured ions move in a circular motion around the center electrode and vibrate along the axis of the center electrode.
All the analytical performance and sample interface characteristics of LTQ complement the wide dynamic range, sensitivity, high-quality accuracy, and high resolution of Orbitrap. The intelligent and data dependent instrument control ensures great analytical flexibility and can be easily configured according to different analytical problems. In metabolite identification and "Bottom up" proteomics research, corresponding data collection and analysis software can convert the analytical performance of LT QOrbitrap into accurate and immediately available data information. For example, the intelligent use of precise quality information in quality loss screening, structural analysis, and protein identification.
The LTQ Orbitrap mass spectrometer has a compact structure, small size, and is suitable for laboratories of any size, with minimal requirements for laboratory infrastructure. This combined mass spectrometry system is easy to install, fast, and can be immediately put into use with high-throughput analysis capabilities. Of particular note is that the Orbitrap analyzer room is maintenance free.
The scanning period of LTQ Orbitrap with a resolution of 60000 does not exceed 1 second, thus providing accurate MS and MSn spectral data while effectively monitoring chromatography. Accurate mass determination can provide complete molecular elemental composition information, while the fragment ions obtained by MSn can also provide structural information.
