1、 Instrument Overview:
Intelligent radar level gaugeExtremely short microwaves with low transmission power are transmitted and received through an antenna system. Radar waves travel at the speed of light. The running time can be converted into level signals through electronic components. A special time extension method can ensure stable and accurate measurements in a very short period of time. Even in the presence of false reflections, microprocessing techniques and software can accurately analyze the level echoes. By inputting the container size, the distance value above can be converted into a signal proportional to the material level. The instrument can be debugged in an empty warehouse. The application in solid-state measurement can use high-frequency sensors in the K-band. Due to the excellent focusing effect of the signal, the installation objects inside the silo or the adhesive objects on the silo wall will not affect the measurement.
2、 Measurement principle:
Intelligent radar level gaugeThe measurement method adopts microwave pulses and can operate normally within the industrial frequency range with low beam energy. It can be installed in various metal and non-metal containers or pipelines for non-contact continuous measurement of the level of liquids, slurries, and particulate materials. Suitable for situations with large changes in dust, temperature, pressure, and the presence of inert gases and vapors. No harm to human body and environment, making customers feel at ease when buying smart radar, and it is worth buying. High frequency microwave pulses are transmitted and received through an antenna system, and radar waves travel at the speed of light. The travel time can be converted into level signals through electronic components. A special time extension method can ensure stable and accurate measurements in a very short period of time. Even in complex working conditions where false echoes exist, the microprocessor technology and debugging software used can accurately identify the echoes of the material level.

The antenna receives reflected microwave pulses and transmits them to the electronic circuit. The microprocessor processes this signal and identifies the echoes generated by the micro pulses on the surface of the material. The correct recognition of echo signals is completed by intelligent software, with an accuracy of up to millimeter level. The distance D from the surface of the material is proportional to the time travel T of the pulse: D=C × T/2

3、 Applicable occasions:
Used for non-contact continuous measurement of liquid, slurry, and granular material levels, suitable for situations with large temperature and pressure changes, and the presence of inert gases or vapors. It adopts the measurement method of microwave pulse (PTOF) and can operate normally in the industrial frequency band range. The beam energy is low and can be installed in various metal and non-metal containers or pipelines, without causing harm to the human body and the environment.

6、 Measurement precautions:
1. The measurement range starts from the point where the beam touches the lower part of the tank, but in special cases, if the tank is concave or conical, measurement cannot be carried out when the level is below this point.
2. If the medium has a low dielectric constant and is visible at a low liquid level, it is recommended to set the zero point at a low height of C to ensure measurement accuracy.
3. In theory, it is possible to measure the position of the antenna *, but considering the effects of corrosion and adhesion, the final value of the measurement range should be at least 100mm away from the antenna *.
4. For overflow protection, a safe distance can be defined to be added to the blind spot.
5. The minimum measurement range is related to the antenna.
6. With different concentrations, foam can both absorb microwave and reflect it, but it can be measured under certain conditions.
7. When the measurement range is exceeded, the instrument outputs a current of 22mA.
7、 There are three ways to debug:
1. By displaying the adjustment module PM;
2. Debugging software SOFT;
3. Using a HART handheld programmer.
Debugging through SOFT software:
Regardless of the type of signal output, 4-20mA/HART, radar sensors can be debugged through software. Using SOFT software for instrument debugging requires a CONNECTCAT driver for the instrument.
When debugging software, power up the radar instrument with 24VDC and add a 250 ohm resistor to the front end of the HART adapter. If the instrument is powered by an integrated HART resistor (internal resistance of 250 ohms), there is no need to add an external resistor, and the HART adapter can be connected in parallel with 4... 20mA wires.
8、 Installation guidance:
The following installation instructions apply to pole and cable probes, and the measurement and installation methods of tube probes are independent.
1. Installation location:
a、 The recommended distance from the tank wall is 1/6-1/4 of the tank diameter (at least 300mm for concrete tanks and at least 400mm for concrete tanks);
b、 Do not install in the middle of metal cans;
c、 Do not install it at the discharge port;
d、 When selecting the length of the probe, pay attention to the distance between the bottom of the probe and the bottom of the tank being about 30mm; pay attention to the temperature of the medium.
2. Obstacles inside the tank:
During installation, pay attention to keeping the probe at least 200mm away from obstacles.
3. Removal of interference:
a、 Interference echo suppression: Software can suppress interference echoes to achieve ideal measurement results;
b、 Bypass tubes and waveguide tubes (only applicable to liquids) can be used for viscosity not exceeding 500cst to avoid interference.
4. Liquid standard installation:
For media with viscosity ≤ 500cst and low adhesion, a tubular probe is an ideal solution, with the following characteristics:
a、 Reliability;
b、 Can be used for any medium with a dielectric constant greater than or equal to 1.4, measurement is independent of the conductivity of the medium;
c、 Obstacles inside the tank and the size of the short tube do not affect the measurement;
d、 Higher lateral pressure than the rod probe can withstand;
e、 For high viscosity media, it is recommended to use a rod probe.
5. Installation on horizontal and vertical tanks:
a、 The maximum length of the tube probe and rod probe can reach 6 meters. For tanks with a measurement distance exceeding 6 meters, an 8mm cable probe can be selected;
b、 The installation and fixing method is the same as the measurement of solid powder silo;
c、 There is no limit to the distance from the tank wall, as long as the probe does not come into contact with the tank wall;
d、 If there are many obstacles in the tank or it is too close to the probe, please use a tubular probe.
6. Measurement of corrosive media:
If measuring corrosive media, a rod probe with a plastic sleeve can be used for measurement.

11、 Data required for selection:
1. What is the measurement range and what is the required blind spot.
2. The type of medium being measured (liquid or solid, specific names such as water, sewage, mud, gasoline, diesel, toluene, sulfur dioxide, ore, coal, cement, soybeans, wheat, corn, flour, etc.). If it is liquid: whether there is steam, fog, foam, wave, agitation and floating objects on the liquid surface; If it is a solid: whether there is dust, and whether the medium is in particle or powder form.
3. The lowest temperature of the medium, the lowest pressure.
4. The corrosiveness of the medium, if placed in a can, requires knowledge of the material of the can and whether there is a corrosion-resistant lining.
5. Do you need anti-corrosion and explosion-proof, split or integrated.
6. Work environment: open pool, covered pool, horizontal tank, vertical tank, spherical tank, whether the tank is connected to atmospheric pressure, etc.
