The hot plate method is a commonly used method for screening and detecting analgesic drugs, as well as a method for determining the mechanism of central nervous system and peripheral nervous system analgesia. It has a wide range of applications. In the past, due to lax temperature control, inaccurate timing, and errors in personnel operation during use, the specificity of experimental results was often low. Based on the above problems, we have developed the KW-RB intelligent hot plate instrument, which solves the problems in the hot plate method and has received praise from experts and professors in trial and practical use.
There are three key aspects in the hot plate method experiment: firstly, the surface of the hot plate should have good thermal conductivity and a certain degree of smoothness, so that the soles of the animal's feet can have sufficient contact area with the hot plate for heat conduction, achieving the purpose of pain. At the same time, there should be physical requirements for acid and alkali resistance, corrosion resistance, and strong hardness. Therefore, we have treated the surface of the hot plate, which has a corrosion resistance higher than stainless steel and a surface smoothness that meets the requirements of the hot plate method experiment. The second issue is temperature control, which is the core problem of the hot plate instrument. If the temperature control is not accurate and fluctuates too much, it will inevitably cause huge errors in the latency of animal pain reactions. For example, when controlling the temperature fluctuation of 2 ℃, the latency of animal pain reactions can differ by 5-6 seconds, sometimes directly making the experimental results meaningless. Therefore, we used microcomputer dot matrix sampling technology with a sampling interval of 0.25 seconds in temperature control, and the self-control adjustment amplitude was precise, so that the surface temperature of the hot plate was controlled within ± 0.2 ℃, which meets the requirements of pharmacological experiments. The third is timing. The accuracy of timing is crucial for the hot plate instrument to accurately describe the impact of drugs on animal pain thresholds. If timed in seconds, small differences in drug effects are often masked. For example, a difference of nearly 1 second between 5.01 seconds and 5.91 seconds, when displayed in seconds, is only 5 seconds. This difference is significant in pharmacological experiments. The new intelligent hot plate instrument also adds printing function and wired control function for foot and hand presses, which can easily complete detection experiments on mice, rats, and guinea pigs, making it an ideal instrument for teaching and scientific research. This instrument is easy to use, with clear indicators, minimal tissue damage, and can be repeatedly used in animals. The pain response latency is long, making it convenient to observe and measure small differences between drugs, compare the strength, speed, and duration of drug analgesic effects, and print detection data. It is currently one of the better hot plate instruments at home and abroad.
