Installation method of portable ultrasonic flowmeter

1、 Preparation before installation

1. Equipment: portable host, external clip on ultrasonic sensor (one pair), signal line, coupling agent

2. Tools: tape measure, sandpaper, clean cloth

3. Confirm:

Pipeline material, outer diameter, wall thickness, medium

Installation point front and rear straight pipe sections: front ≥ 10D, rear ≥ 5D

The pipeline must be fully filled

2、 Installation steps (V method/Z method universal)

1. Surface treatment of pipelines

Polish the installation position with sandpaper, remove rust, paint, and dirt

Wipe clean with a cloth to keep it smooth, dry, and rust free

2. Enter pipeline parameters (host operation)

Select medium: water/diesel/other liquids

Input: Pipe outer diameter, wall thickness, material, nominal diameter

The host automatically calculates the installation distance of the sensor

3. Apply coupling agent

Apply coupling agent evenly on the contact surface of the sensor

Covering the entire probe surface without bubbles or gaps

4. Fixed sensors

Locate based on the center distance displayed on the host

Use zip ties or fixtures to firmly attach the sensor to the pipe wall

Two sensors parallel, aligned, and not offset

5. Check signal strength

Observe the hostSignal strength, transmission time, signal-to-noise ratio

Normal standard:

Signal strength>90%

Signal to noise ratio>25 dB

When the signal is insufficient:

Re polish the pipeline

Add coupling agent

Adjust sensor position and alignment

6. Start measuring

After the signal stabilizes, enter the measurement interface

The installation is completed when the instantaneous flow and cumulative flow are displayed normally

IIIInstallation method of portable ultrasonic flowmeter

Two common installation methods

1. V-method installation (commonly used for small-diameter DN15~DN200)

Sensors are installed on the same side of the pipeline

Suitable for: small caliber, thin pipe wall, good signal

2. Z-method installation (commonly used for large-diameter DN200 and above)

Sensors are installed on both sides of the pipeline, facing each other

Suitable for: large-diameter, thick walled pipes, sewage, and high signal attenuation

4、 Installation precautions

1. It is necessary to ensure that the pipeline is full, and if it is not full, the measurement will be inaccurate

2. Avoid installation points such as welds, elbows, valves, pumps, and reducers

3. The sensor must be firmly attached and not loose

4. The coupling agent should not be too small and there should be no bubbles

5. Outdoor installation of sensors to avoid direct sunlight exposure

6. Avoid parallel signal lines with strong electrical cables to prevent interference

5、 Installation success judgment

Stable signal strength

Stable traffic values without any fluctuations

Positive and negative flow directions are correct

No alarm prompt
