Installation method of electromagnetic flowmeter

1、 Installation direction and position

Can be installed horizontally and vertically. When installed vertically, the flow direction of the medium should be from bottom to top.

The installation position should ensure that the measuring tube is always filled with liquid.

Avoid locations such as the highest point of the pipeline where gas is likely to accumulate.

Avoid locations that are prone to negative pressure, leakage, strong vibration, and strong electromagnetic interference.

2、 Requirements for straight pipe sections

The length of the upstream straight pipe section of the flowmeter shall not be less than5D～10D(D is the nominal diameter).

The length of the downstream straight pipe section shall not be less than3D～5D.

If there are valves, elbows, reducers and other fittings upstream, increase the length of the straight pipe section appropriately.

The inner wall of the straight pipe section should be smooth, free of debris, and have no protruding welding points.

3、 Grounding requirements

The sensor must be reliably grounded, and the grounding resistance should be less than 10 Ω.

Metal pipelines can be grounded through grounding rings and grounding electrodes.

Insulated pipelines and plastic lined pipelines must be equipped with grounding rings.

Avoid sharing grounding with frequency converters and high-power equipment.

4、 Environmental requirements

The ambient temperature and humidity are within the specified range of the instrument.

Stay away from strong magnetic field equipment, high-power motors, frequency converters, and high-voltage cables.

Avoid direct sunlight, long-term water accumulation, and corrosive gas environments.

Reserve sufficient space for operation, maintenance, and disassembly.

5、 Installation of flanges and seals

Align the flange sealing surface, gasket center, and pipeline center.

The inner diameter of the gasket shall not be less than the inner diameter of the pipeline and shall not protrude into the pipe.

The bolts are evenly stressed to prevent stress deformation caused by tightness.

Avoid welding high temperatures that can be transmitted to the flowmeter body.

6、 Wiring requirements

The signal line and power line are routed separately, not in the same slot or parallel, and are laid at close distances.

Use shielded cables, with the shielding layer reliably grounded at one or both ends.

The junction box should be kept sealed to prevent water ingress and moisture.

The power supply voltage and wiring method comply with the requirements of the instrument manual.

7、 Full tube and bubble control

Ensure that there is no air or bubble retention in the measurement section.

When installed horizontally, the electrode axis should be in a horizontal position.

An exhaust device can be installed upstream of the flow meter for gas containing pipelines.

Avoid installing directly at the pump outlet to prevent cavitation and bubble interference.

8、 Vibration and Protection

Install pipeline fixing brackets upstream and downstream of the flowmeter for pipelines with high vibration.

Use high protection level instruments outdoors, underground wells, and humid environments.

Take measures to prevent sunburn, freezing, and soaking.

9、 Pre operation inspection

Check if the installation direction, flanges, bolts, and seals are in place.

Check if the grounding, wiring, and power supply are correct.

Slowly increase the pressure and exhaust, observe for any leaks.

Confirm that the instrument display is normal and there are no abnormal alarms during air traffic control.
