Its core principle combines vacuum technology with the self-priming mechanism of centrifugal pumps.

A vacuum assisted self-priming pump is an addition of a vacuum assisted system (such as a vacuum pump, steam water separator, liquid level sensor, control cabinet, etc.) to the traditional self-priming pump. By creating a negative pressure environment and using atmospheric pressure to push liquid into the pump body, it achieves an efficient and automated self-priming process. Its core principle combines vacuum technology with the self-priming mechanism of centrifugal pumps.

Preparation before startup

There is usually a small amount of water intake in the pump body (some models can run idle without manual watering).

The vacuum assist system is in standby mode and managed by the control cabinet.

Vacuum pumping stage

When starting, the vacuum pump runs first to extract the air from the pump body and suction pipeline.

Negative pressure (vacuum) is formed inside the pipeline, and under the action of external atmospheric pressure, the liquid is pressed into the pump.

Gas liquid mixing and separation

After entering the pump chamber, the liquid reacts with the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the impeller to form a gas-liquid mixture.

The mixture enters the gas-liquid separation chamber, and the gas is discharged due to its low density, while the liquid flows back to the storage chamber.

Self suction completed and normal operation

When the liquid level sensor detects that the liquid has filled the pump body, it will send a signal to the control cabinet.

The control cabinet immediately shuts down the vacuum pump and starts the main pump, entering the normal pumping state.

Automatic maintenance mechanism

If the vacuum degree decreases due to changes in suction or medium fluctuations during operation (such as a decrease in liquid level), the system will automatically restart the vacuum pump to maintain its self-priming capacity.

If the inlet dries up, the pump will automatically shut down for protection to prevent damage to the mechanical seal caused by idling.

The self-priming height can reach over 9 meters, and the horizontal suction range exceeds 100 meters

No need for manual water injection, it can achieve "self-priming" after startup (some models are equipped with electric air control valves)

Idle design: Low power (≤ 22kW) models can be directly powered on and started without the need for pre watering.

Intelligent control: Fully automatic start stop is achieved through floating balls, liquid level sensors, or pressure switches.

High adaptability: Suitable for complex media containing solid particles and fibers, the impeller can pass through solids of 75-100mm. ‌
