Indigo phenol blue method (compliant with DIN 38406 E5 standard). Under the action of a catalyst, NH4+reacts with hypochlorite ions and salicylate ions in an alkaline medium with a pH of 12.6 to form indophenol compounds, which appear green. Within the measurement range of the instrument, the degree of color change is directly proportional to the concentration of NH4+in the sample. Therefore, by measuring the degree of color change, the concentration of NH4+in the sample can be calculated.
