The HEK293 cell line, also known as hek293, hek293, 293 cells, is a human embryonic kidney 293 cell line developed in 1973. There are many advantages to using HEK293 cells. They are a cold resistant, semi adherent, low maintenance cell line that divides rapidly and can grow twice every 36 hours. The cultured cells can be used for transient and stable expression, as well as suspension culture or monolayer culture. They are relatively easy to transfect and can produce a large amount of recombinant proteins. At present, HEK293 cells are mainly used in fields such as cancer research, new drug development, antibody protein production, signal transduction, and protein interaction research.
