Product Details

HDPE short pipe replacement and lining pipe trenchless repair. The project is located at the intersection of Jianning Road, Qinhuai District, Nanjing City. During the rainstorm, the water at the intersection is serious, which greatly affects traffic safety.

After investigation, it was found that the Φ 1500 rainwater pipe under the current road has been severely damaged (the total length of the rainwater pipe is about 30m, the burial depth is about 6.3m, and it is a reinforced concrete pipe). In order to alleviate the water accumulation situation, ensure drainage and traffic safety, emergency repairs need to be carried out on this section of the rainwater pipe.

CCTV inspection results

CCTV inspection was conducted on the damaged rainwater pipeline of the project, and the inspection results showed that there were the following structural defects in the section of rainwater pipeline:Three secondary dislocations and one secondary deformation.

Based on the assessment results of structural defects in pipelines, it is calculated thatThe repair index is 4.2 and the repair level is level two.In addition, considering the location of the rainwater pipe in the system, it is recommended to adoptOverall repair.

After calculation and review, it was found that the rainwater pipeline of the project can still meet the requirements of pipeline section loss after repairing with short pipe lining method.

Design principle of short pipe lining

Short PipeIt is to insert HDPE pipes of appropriate size into the old pipes that need to be repaired, and use the rigidity and strength of the original old pipes as the load-bearing structure, as well as the corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and permeability resistance of HDPE pipes, to form a "pipe in pipe" composite structure, so that the repaired pipes have comprehensive performance. Finally, the gap between the new and old pipes is filled with grouting, and local grouting outside the pipe is used for the displacement of the original pipes.

Technical requirements for short pipe lining

  1. Before repairing the lining of the short pipe welding, grouting reinforcement should be carried out on the soil around the pipe to enhance its stability, prevent soil erosion, and improve the bearing capacity of the pipe foundation soil.

Before repairing the pipeline, it is necessary to use a high-pressure water gun to dredge the pipeline and remove all dirt, garbage, etc. that may affect the formation of the new pipe.

Before repair, the original pipeline joints need to be leveled.

4. Repair the misalignment of pipeline interfaces, cut off the protruding parts, and then smooth them with mortar.


The rainwater pipeline in this project is a gravity pipe, which is mainly subjected to external water and soil pressure.Among them, the external soil pressure can be assumed to be borne by the original concrete pipe, and the inner lining pipe only bears the groundwater pressure. After adjusting the wall thickness and repeatedly calculating, the final design of the inner lining pipe wall thickness is 25mm. The following figure shows the deformation of the pipeline when the inner lining pipe wall thickness reaches 25mm. It can be seen that the vertical deformation of the pipeline is 63mm, which is 4.2% of the pipeline diameter and meets the specification requirements.


The use of short pipe lining method for pipeline repair in this project is feasible,It not only reduces the impact on road traffic and underground pipelines, accelerates construction progress, saves project costs, but also has good repair effects.
