Overview

The Picarro G2307 formaldehyde analyzer, with its small size, sturdy structure, and relatively light weight, can be easily transported to different locations for rapid deployment. This device complies with the US military standard MIL-STD-810F impact vibration test, whether in the laboratory or in the field. It can not only be removed from the package, installed and operated within minutes, but also run unattended for months without calibration.

Product Details

Detailed description of formaldehyde analyzer:

The research and development efforts have made the response time no longer hindered by the adsorption effect of formaldehyde molecules on the surface of gas channels. The G2307 analyzer has applied coatings on important gas channels, resulting in measurement response times as low as 1 minute (90/10 drop/rise time, in testing challenges of 0-20 ppb and 20-0 ppb). The combination of these performances ensures stable, continuous, and real-time formaldehyde monitoring without the need for frequent calibration and maintenance work. Meanwhile, the G2307 analyzer can measure the concentrations of water vapor and methane, and report the dry gas mole fraction of formaldehyde.

Picarro's special cavity ring down spectroscopy (CRDS) technology enables the G2307 analyzer to be applied in atmospheric research, formaldehyde emissions from motor vehicles and aircraft, photochemical smog, and incinerator emissions. In these applications, the current demand is for higher sensitivity, which traditional Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) cannot achieve.

This analyzer can also be used for indoor air quality detection, measuring trace amounts of formaldehyde in the environment. Indoor formaldehyde emission sources of residential buildings and industrial plants include foam materials, wood chip boards, plywood and other building materials.

Formaldehyde detection: in-depth analysis of technical principles

The core function of a formaldehyde detector is to convert invisible formaldehyde molecules in the air into accurate digital concentration values (in mg/m?)? Or ppm), its technical route is mainly divided into three categories:

1. Electrochemical sensing method: real-time and efficient guardian

Formaldehyde molecules undergo redox reactions with the surface of the sensor electrode, producing a current signal proportional to the concentration. The advantage of this technology lies in:

Fast response: Results can be obtained within seconds to tens of seconds, meeting the real-time detection needs of homes and offices.

Low power design: The standby time is usually ≥ 5 days and supports long-term mobile monitoring.

Portable and practical: Direct reading design, simple and intuitive operation

However, attention should also be paid to its limitations: it is vulnerable to interference in high temperature (>30 ℃) or high humidity (>80% RH) environments, and may be cross affected by volatile organic compounds such as alcohol and perfume.

2. spectrophotometry: laboratory level precision

The principle of the method used in the national standard GB/T 18204.2-2014 is that formaldehyde reacts with phenol reagent to form a triazine compound, which is oxidized to form a blue-green complex. The concentration of 210 is analyzed by absorbance at 630nm wavelength

Its advantages:

Can the accuracy reach 0.01mg/m? The error is ≤± 5%, which meets the testing requirements.

Strong anti-interference ability: only responds specifically to formaldehyde and is not affected by other gases.

But the complexity of its operation needs to be accepted: 15-30 minutes of reagent reaction time is required, and real-time reading cannot be achieved.

3. Multi technology integration: a new direction for intelligent detection

Cutting edge instruments integrate electrochemical and infrared/catalytic combustion technologies to achieve breakthrough progress:

Simultaneous monitoring of multiple parameters such as formaldehyde, TVOC, CO2, etc

AI algorithm dynamic compensation: automatically corrects temperature and humidity interference (such as compensating ≥ 5% for every 10% increase in humidity RH).

Generate pollution heat maps to assist in locating pollution sources (such as furniture and paint release points).

This type of equipment represents the future direction of residential and laboratory testing.
