Vibration velocity sensor is an inertial sensor that uses the principle of magneto electric induction to convert vibration signals into electrical signals. It is mainly composed of magnetic circuit system, inertial mass, spring damping and other parts. A magnet is rigidly fixed in the sensor housing, and the inertial mass (coil component) is suspended on the housing by a spring element. When working, the sensor is installed on the machine. When the machine vibrates, the coil and magnet move relative to each other within the working frequency range of the sensor, cutting the magnetic field lines and generating induced voltage in the coil. The voltage value is proportional to the vibration speed value. Paired with secondary instruments, it can display the magnitude of vibration velocity or displacement, and can also be transmitted to other secondary instruments or AC voltmeters for measurement.

The overall design of the sensor ensures that it has the following usage characteristics:

(1) Its output signal is directly proportional to the vibration velocity, so it can be used in various fields of vibration measurement, including high frequency, medium frequency, and low frequency.

(2) Compared to other types of vibration sensors, sensors have lower output impedance and better signal-to-noise ratio. It can work in conjunction with a general AC voltmeter or oscilloscope, and has no special requirements for output plugs and cables, making it easy to use.

(3) Sensors have a lower frequency of use and can be applied to low-speed rotating machines.

(4) The active components with friction have been removed from the sensor design, resulting in good flexibility and the ability to measure small vibrations (0.01 μ m).

(5) The sensor has a certain resistance to lateral vibration (not greater than 10g peak value).
