Preservation procedures

ifpHWhen the electrode is not in use, the glass ball must be placed in a humid environment. If the glass ball dehydrates, it will temporarily affect the performance of the electrode. The recommended steps for saving are as follows:

  1. Short term: Insert the electrode into3.8 M KClIn the solution. It is strictly prohibited to store in distilled water.
  2. Long term: Fill the electrode protective cap with fresh3.8 M KClSolution, then insert the electrode. Protecting the bottleOThe ring must be sealed in place, and the bottle cap must be tightened by hand. It is strictly prohibited to store in distilled water.

Cleaning Procedure

The following three cleaning procedures are particularly effective for contaminated electrodes, almost90%The pollutants and attachments can be removed with detergent, warm water, and a soft bristled brush.

  1. washpHElectrode glass ball
    Clean with a warm neutral detergent solution. Gently brush the glass ball with a soft bristled brush, then wipe it with clean soft cotton or cloth dipped in solution. Rinse thoroughly with distilled water, then soak in saturated waterKClAt least in the solution30minute.
  2. Inorganic sediment
    Soak the glass ball of the electrode in dilute solutionHClA few minutes in the solution(Attention: Limited to the top of the glass ball only)Then clean it with distilled water and immerse it in3.8MofKClIn the solution, the time should not be less than30minute.
  3. Organic oil pollution
    Follow the steps first1Clean, if it still doesn't work, then clean the glass ball with alcohol or acetone(Attention: limited to the top of the glass ball, do not touch the diaphragm)Then immerse it3.8MofKClIn the solution, the time should not be less than30minute;

Precautions for use:

  1. Before using the new electrode, immerse it in3.8MofKCLIn the solution, the time should not be less than12Hour;
  2. Do not dry or store electrodes in distilled water;
  3. Do not directly wipe the electrode glass ball with your hands, or scrape the glass ball with a hard object;
  4. Prohibition of repeated usepHStandard solution;
  5. Cracked or broken glass electrodes cannot be used;
