A dual PMT detector is a device that uses two photomultiplier tubes as detection elements. PMT is a vacuum electronic device characterized by high sensitivity and high gain. These photoelectrons undergo continuous multiplication in the multiplication stage, thereby amplifying the electrons and ultimately outputting a current signal through the anode.

The dual PMT detector is a highly sensitive photoelectric detection device that combines the characteristics of photomultiplier tubes (PMT) to achieve accurate measurement and detection of weak light signals. It mainly consists of two photomultiplier tubes, each with an independent photocathode, multiplication system, and anode output structure. This design enables the detector to simultaneously or separately receive and process two different optical signal sources, improving the flexibility and efficiency of detection.
1、 Working principle
When the light signal is irradiated onto the photocathode of PMT, due to the photoelectric effect, the photocathode will release photoelectrons. These photoelectrons undergo a series of multiplication stages to reach the anode and output a current signal. Due to the high gain characteristic of PMT, even very weak optical signals can be effectively amplified and converted into measurable electrical signals.
In a dual PMT detector, two PMTs can work independently or collaboratively. When two PMT receive optical signals simultaneously, simultaneous measurement and comparison of the two signals can be achieved; When it is necessary to measure light signals in different directions or with different characteristics separately, two PMT can be used for detection.
