Drum grinderTM 500It is a laboratory ball mill designed for grinding large sample sizes up to 35 l. It can accept initial injection sizes up to 20 mm and achieve grinding sizes as low as 15 µ m through friction and impact. Hard, brittle, or fibrous samples are crushed in a 150 l drum containing 80 kg grinding balls. The variable speed of 10 to 50 rpm, different grinding ball sizes, and the possibility of long-term grinding for up to 100 hours ensure adaptability to sample characteristics and reproducible results. The TM 500 food grade model features stainless steel 316L barrels and hoppers, suitable for applications where samples must not be contaminated in any way.
▏Equipped with a feeding hopper and optional grinding ball/sample separation screen, the operation of the TM 500 drum grinder and the handling of the required 80 kg grinding balls are particularly ergonomic and very simple.
▏ The drum can be easily emptied through the electronic tilt function.
▏ By operating the display screen, it is easy to select and store parameters such as grinding time, startup delay, or interval mode. Through programmable grinding intervals, it is also possible to process sample materials that are sensitive to heat. Combining the interval time of forward and reverse modes can effectively avoid agglomeration effects.
▏ Optional grid funnel, this special funnel can easily separate grinding balls from samples. After replacing the lid with a grid funnel, users can pour out the sample while keeping the grinding ball inside the bucket.
▏ For applications that require grinding without heavy metal contamination, a food grade version of TM 500 can be provided.

A ball mill is used to finely grind solid materials under dry conditions through impact and friction. The drum containing the sample and grinding ball rotates around a horizontal axis. When using larger diameter grinding balls, particles are more prone to breakage, while smaller diameters result in smaller final fineness.
