DMEM (Phenol Red Free) Basic Culture Medium
Product attributes:
Product Introduction
DMEM is a culture medium containing various amino acids and glucose, developed on the basis of MEM medium. Compared with MEM, the dosage of various ingredients has been increased, and it is also divided into high sugar type (4500mg/L) and low sugar type (1000mg/L).
DMEM stands for Dulbecco's modified eagle medium, so its characteristics mainly include the following:
(1) The amino acid content is twice that of Iger medium and contains non essential amino acids;
(2) The vitamin content is four times that of Iger medium;
(3) Contains the important substance pyruvate in the glycolysis pathway;
(4) Contains trace amounts of iron ions.
Main components of culture medium

(+) L-Glutaminean
Excluding (-)
(-) HEPES
(-)Phenol Red
The basic composition of cell culture medium:
Cell culture medium mainly consists of three parts: basic culture medium, additives, and growth factors.
Basic culture medium
Basic culture medium is the most important component of cell culture medium. It is a basic liquid culture medium typically composed of water, amino acids, sugars, vitamins, and minerals to provide sufficient nutrients and growth conditions to maintain cell survival and proliferation. Common basic culture media includeDMEM、MEM、RPMI-1640 等。
additive
Additives mainly include fetal bovine serum(FBS)、 Human serum, sheep serum, chicken embryo serum, horse serum, soy protein hydrolysate, etc. These additives provide many substances and growth factors that cells need to help with cell growth and proliferation. FBS is one of the additives commonly used for culturing tumor cells and other difficult to culture cells. The addition of FBS can enhance cell adhesion, proliferation rate, and inhibit cell apoptosis.
growth factor
Growth factors are one of the important components in cell culture media, which can promote cell proliferation, differentiation, and functional expression. Growth factors includeEGF, FGF, NGF, PDGF, etc. These growth factors regulate cell proliferation and differentiation by activating corresponding receptors. Growth factors have different effects in different cell types, so different cell types require different growth factors.
Notes:
1. When using the product, attention should be paid to aseptic operation to avoid contamination.
2. This product contains serum and bispecific antibodies. If there is no special need, there is no need to add additional serum and bispecific antibodies, and they can be used directly.
3. To maintain the best performance of this product, it is not advisable to place it in room temperature or higher temperature environments for a long time.
4. All products should be used within the shelf life. If they exceed the shelf life, they must be discarded.
5. This product is only for further scientific research use and cannot be applied to clinical or other aspects.

Classification of cell culture media:
According to their composition and function, cell culture media can be divided into two types: serum-free media and serum containing media.
Serum-free culture medium
Serum free culture medium does not containCell culture medium containing FBS or other animal serum. Due to certain drawbacks of animal serum, such as the presence of unknown growth factors and batch instability, serum-free culture media have gradually been widely used in cell culture. Serum free culture medium is usually composed of specific combinations and concentrations of growth factors, basic culture medium, additives, and some colloids or polymers. The use of serum-free culture medium can improve the stability, reproducibility, and accuracy of cell growth and proliferation, reducing potential issues such as biological contamination and immune reactions.
Serum containing culture medium
Serum containing culture medium is a medium that contains animal serum (usuallyFBS cell culture medium is one of the traditional cell culture media. FBS plays many important roles in cell culture, such as providing essential growth factors, promoting cell proliferation and adhesion, and inhibiting cell apoptosis. However, due to the uncertainty of FBS sources and batch variations in composition, serum containing culture media may have issues of instability and non repeatability in certain situations. In addition, when using serum containing culture medium, it is necessary to screen and process the serum to remove potential pathogens and pathogenic bacteria.
