Ultrasonic level gauge is developed based on ultrasonic ranging technology. The microcontroller inside the junction box of the level gauge generates ultrasonic waves of a certain frequency, which are driven and amplified. The ultrasonic waves are emitted vertically from the surface of the object by the ultrasonic probe. When the ultrasonic waves contact the object surface, they are reflected back to the ultrasonic probe. After the reflected waveform is amplified by the circuit, a signal is generated to the microcontroller. At a certain temperature, the wave velocity of ultrasound is a certain value, so the microcontroller only needs to calculate the reciprocating time of the wave and obtain the height of the object according to the formula S=C * T/2.Working principle of ultrasonic level gauge
The working principle of the DLM550 integrated ultrasonic level gauge is that the transducer (probe) emits ultrasonic pulses that are reflected back from the surface of the measured medium. Some of the reflected echoes are received by the same transducer and converted into electrical signals. Ultrasonic pulses propagate at the speed of sound waves, and the time interval required from emission to reception of ultrasonic echo pulses is proportional to the distance from the transducer to the surface of the measured medium. The relationship between the distance value S, the sound velocity C, and the transmission T can be expressed by the formula: S=C × T/2.
Due to the certain width of the emitted ultrasonic pulses, the reflected waves in a small area close to the transducer overlap with the emitted waves, making it difficult to identify and measure their distance values. This area is called the measurement blind spot. The size of the blind spot is related to the model of the ultrasonic level gauge.
