Overview

COD Chemical Oxygen Demand Water Quality Rapid Detection Kit. The oxidant used in the COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) measurement method in this product will cause changes in reaction rate with different reaction times and temperatures. Users should pay attention to the color development time and water sample temperature during use. Color development takes 5 minutes at around 10 ℃, 4 minutes at around 20 ℃, and 3 minutes at around 30 ℃. Due to the fact that COD is a comprehensive indicator, and the oxidant used in this product does not work on all substances, the detection results of this product are usually lower than those obtained after digestion.

Regarding COD:

There are various methods for measuring COD, including different oxidants, reaction times, and reaction temperatures; Each method has a different oxidation rate, which depends on the type and concentration volume of oxidizable substances. In Japan, the standard procedure for using potassium permanganate method (COD Mn) is shown in JISK010217. 30 minutes in acidic medium, water bath (100 ℃) is usually used, but the rapid detection kit uses JISK010219 for COD testing. The use of alkaline medium (COD-OH) presents the advantages of being fast and simple. The alkaline medium method is used to determine the consumption of potassium permanganate in a boiling water bath for 20 minutes by titration. On the other hand, the rapid detection package determines its value by measuring the color change of permanganate consumed at room temperature. Standard protocol: Use glucose as the standard solution. River water may have a good correlation with COD Mn method, but most oils, detergents, and other solids have no correlation. When using this product to test wastewater, please check the correlation with standard methods such as JIS in Japan for better reading.

Influencing factors:

The oxidant used in the COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) measurement method of this product may cause changes in reaction rate with different reaction times and temperatures. When measuring seawater, the reaction often proceeds faster and results in positive and false readings, so reading half to one indicator under matching colors may provide an estimate.

COD Chemical Oxygen Demand Water Quality Rapid Detection KitPrecautions for use:

1. This product is only used for water quality analysis and should not be used for other purposes.

2. The optimal pH range for this product is 13. If the pH of the water sample is below 5, please adjust the pH of the water sample to 7 or higher using * solution, etc.

3. The product is calibrated using glucose standard solution, and above 100mg/L, it appears yellow or colorless; To test water samples with a concentration of 100mg/L or higher, please dilute the water sample before conducting the measurement.

4. Pay attention to the reaction temperature when measuring COD, as it directly affects the reaction time.

5. Please use a clean container to collect water samples, otherwise it will affect the measurement results.

6. The turbidity and chromaticity of water samples can interfere with color judgment to some extent. If necessary, please filter or dilute the water sample before measuring, and try to compare colors under sufficient light conditions. Due to the limitations of the color chart, this method is only suitable for semi quantitative detection.

7. After use, the sampling tube should be rinsed with clean water 2-3 times to reduce the deposition of stains and extend the frequency of use.

There are various colorimetric methods for determining COD, and this product uses permanganate consumption to refer to the total amount of reducing substances in the water sample.

7. Product self inspection: When there is a significant deviation in the test results, a specific concentration standard solution can be used to compare the results after color development.

8. Self consistency verification: Dilute the tested water sample by different multiples to compare the results.

If the product is not used frequently, it should be placed in a dry, cool, and dark place (10-25 ℃) to extend its service life.

10. It is recommended to use the opened vacuum packaging as soon as possible or put it in a moisture-proof bag to avoid the drug absorbing moisture and affecting the test results.

11. This product should be avoided from direct contact by children and should be placed away from them.

12. This product contains a small amount of chemicals. Please carefully read the instruction manual, GHS label, SDS, and other necessary documents before use. Please keep these materials at hand for future reference.

13. Please wash your hands before and after use. Do not inhale chemical reagents.

14. It is strongly recommended to wear protective gloves, goggles, and a face mask when using this product.
