The BOD biochemical oxygen demand analyzer uses a simple, safe, and reliable mercury free differential pressure sensing method to measure BOD in water. By detecting the height of mercury in the glass tube, the BOD5 value of the water sample can be calculated. This method can accurately provide comparability with the results measured by chemical dilution method.

  BOD Biochemical Oxygen Demand TesterIt refers to the amount of dissolved oxygen consumed in the biochemical reaction process of microorganisms decomposing biodegradable organic matter present in water under certain conditions. Biochemical oxygen demand, also known as biochemical oxygen consumption, is the dissolved oxygen required by aerobic microorganisms in water to decompose organic matter into inorganic matter at a certain temperature during the oxidation process at a specific time. It is a comprehensive indicator of the content of aerobic pollutants such as organic matter in water and an important water pollution parameter.
The calculation method for biochemical oxygen demand is as follows:
BOD(mg / L)=(D1-D2) / P
D1: Initial dissolved oxygen of diluted water sample (mg/L)
D2: Dissolved oxygen (mg/L) of the diluted water sample after being cultured in a 20 ℃ constant temperature incubator for 5 days
P=[volume of water sample (mL)]/[final volume of diluted water sample (mL)]
The BOD biochemical oxygen demand analyzer is a new type of instrument that uses the air pressure difference method to measure biochemical oxygen demand. It can accurately provide measurement results comparable to chemical dilution methods, and has the characteristics of intuitive reading, clear biochemical reaction curves, and easy use and maintenance. It is an ideal tool for work analysis. It can be widely used in environmental monitoring, petrochemical, medical and health, teaching and research departments to monitor water quality.
Principle:
When a sample containing saturated dissolved oxygen enters the flow cell and comes into contact with a microbial sensor, the biodegradable organic matter in the sample is consumed by the bacteria in the microbial membrane, resulting in a decrease in the mass of oxygen diffused onto the surface of the oxygen electrode. When the diffusion rate (mass) of biodegradable organic matter in the sample reaches a constant value towards the bacterial membrane, the mass of oxygen diffusing onto the surface of the oxygen electrode also reaches a constant value, thus generating a constant current. Due to the quantitative relationship between the difference in constant current and the decrease in oxygen, within its linear range, the dissolved oxygen consumed is proportional to the concentration of organic matter. The dissolved oxygen electrode measures the decrease in dissolved oxygen and calculates the BOD value.

The BOD biochemical oxygen demand analyzer is designed based on the principle of air pressure difference method. When the tested sample is cultured at a constant temperature of 20 ± 1 ℃ for five days, it undergoes biological oxidation to transform into nitrogen, carbon, and sulfur oxides, and produce carbon dioxide gas that is absorbed. At this time, a pressure difference is generated inside the culture bottle. By detecting the height of mercury in the glass tube, the BOD5 value of the water sample can be calculated, which can accurately provide comparability with the results measured by chemical dilution method.
