Core working principle

High frequency magnetic field generation:

A precision coil is integrated inside the probe, and a matching preamplifier provides 1-2 MHz high-frequency AC excitation current, thereby generating a high-frequency alternating electromagnetic field at the probe end face.

When the electromagnetic field approaches a conductive metal target surface (such as a turbine shaft, commonly made of AISI 4140 steel), according to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, a closed vortex current, also known as "eddy current", will be induced on the surface of the target material.

Reaction and impedance changes:

Eddy current itself generates a secondary magnetic field in the opposite direction to the original magnetic field (Lenz's law), while Joule heat loss occurs due to material resistance, resulting in a change in the equivalent impedance (including inductance and resistance) of the probe coil.
