Anions or nutrients (such as nitrate, phosphate, etc.) in seawater are important targets for marine chemical cycling research, environmental pollution monitoring, and annual pollution level comparison. They are fundamental to marine scientific research, environmental protection, sustainable resource utilization, and response to change. Due to the complex matrix and high salinity of seawater, the quantification of trace and trace anions (nutrients) in seawater is challenging due to the difference in ion content between analytes and matrix by several orders of magnitude.
Based on the quality control requirements for accurate determination of anions and nutrients in seawater, the Chinese Academy of Metrology has developed a natural seawater based anion standard substance, which includes characteristic quantities such as chloride ions, bromide ions, sulfate ions, nitrate ions, and phosphate ions. The standard substance is determined using methods such as ion chromatography, UV visible spectrophotometry, flow injection spectrophotometry, inductively coupled plasma emission spectroscopy, and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.GBW08783The concentration range of each anion in seawater anion standard substance is from10-2to10-5The expanded uncertainty of the magnitude and characteristic values is1%~3%Between, the standard substance is4℃Under certain conditions, the stability can reach5Year by year, throughCCQM-K161&P207 Anions in seawaterThe verification of international comparison results is equivalent and consistent. The development of this standard substance can meet the quality control requirements for the evaluation and confirmation of anions, especially trace nitrate and phosphate ions, in seawater and similar high salt water bodies, as well as the analysis process.

NameAnion standard substance in seawater
Specifications50mL/bottle
Anion standard substance in seawaterThe chloride ions, sulfate ions, bromide ions, nitrate ions, and phosphate ions in seawater were measured using ion chromatography, flow injection spectrophotometry, spectrophotometry, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES), and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The average or weighted average of the measurement results was used as the standard value, and validated through CCQM-K161 international comparison. By using measurement methods and instruments that meet the requirements of metrological characteristics, it is ensured that the mass value of standard materials can be traced back to the SI basic units of mass, namely kilograms (kg) and moles (mol).
