A Brief Discussion on the Comprehensive Heat Transfer inside the Muffle Furnace
In muffle furnace heat exchange, it is usually divided into at least three different temperature zones: furnace gas, furnace wall, and heated metal. Among them, the temperature of the furnace gas; The temperature of the furnace wall is second; The temperature of the metal being heated. In this way, heat exchange occurs between the furnace and the furnace wall, between the furnace gas and the metal, and between the furnace wall and the metal through convection, as well as heat loss due to the thermal conductivity of the furnace wall (which also has a certain impact on the heat exchange inside the furnace).
(1) After the heat transfer from the furnace gas to the metal is transferred to the furnace wall and the surface of the metal, a part is attracted and another part is reflected back. The reflected heat needs to be absorbed by the furnace gas filling the furnace, with a portion being absorbed by the gas and the remaining portion being directed to the opposite furnace wall or metal, repeating this process.
(2) The heat transfer of the furnace wall and furnace to the metal is somewhat similar to the previous one, which is also repeated and continuous. The difference is that the inner surface of the furnace wall also absorbs heat through convection, while this heat is still transmitted out in a certain way.
(3) The convective heat transfer of furnace gas to metal in existing flame furnace chambers is mostly within the temperature range of 800 ℃ to 1400 ℃. When the furnace gas temperature is around 800 ℃, the effect is almost equal to convection. When the furnace temperature exceeds 800 ℃, convective heat transfer decreases while heat transfer increases sharply. For example, when the temperature of the open hearth gas in a steel plant reaches around 1800 ℃, some of it has already reached about 95% of the total heat transfer.
