Precautions for using needle filters: avoid operational errors that may affect the results
Date: 2025-08-25Read: 0
Needle filterIt is a disposable laboratory liquid filtration device, whose core structure consists of a filter membrane or composite membrane component pre installed in an injection molded shell. The shell material is mostly polypropylene (PP) or polyether sulfone (PES) to ensure chemical stability and corrosion resistance. The interface design adopts Ruhr locking or sliding interface, which can quickly connect with syringes, pipettes or pipelines, and is easy to operate.
  Needle filterPrecautions for use:
Avoid using excessive volume: Each specification of needle filter has a maximum processing volume, and excessive volume can cause membrane blockage, slow filtration speed, and even prevent liquid from flowing out. The appropriate specification should be selected according to the sample size.
Control the pushing speed: When pushing the syringe, it should be done slowly and evenly to avoid sudden force - excessive pressure may cause the filter membrane to rupture and unfiltered liquid to flow out directly; If the pressure is too low, the flow rate will be too slow and the efficiency will be low.
Direction cannot be reversed: The liquid must be injected from the "inlet end" (connected to the syringe end) and discharged from the "outlet end". Reversing will cause trapped impurities to be washed away to the outlet end, contaminating the sample.
Disposable mainly: Most needle filters are disposable consumables, and repeated use may lead to cross contamination (residual previous samples) or filter membrane blockage or damage.
Compatibility check: Before use, it is necessary to confirm the compatibility between the filter membrane material and the sample. You can refer to the "Chemical Compatibility Table" provided by the manufacturer to avoid sample contamination caused by filter membrane dissolution.
Needle filter is an efficient tool for laboratory "purification of small volume samples". The core lies in selecting pore size based on "impurity particle size", selecting filter membrane material based on "sample chemical properties", and standardizing operation to ensure filtration effect and sample purity.
