Umbrella gear gate valve is a type of valve that is controlled by an umbrella gear transmission mechanism. It is commonly used to cut off or connect media (such as water, steam, oil, etc.) in pipeline systems. This type of valve is often used as a main line cut-off device for the main steam pipeline of thermal power plants, raw material inlet and outlet control of catalytic cracking units in refineries, and zoning scheduling nodes for urban water supply systems. In situations where frequent opening and closing is required but quick response is not necessary (such as remote backup control systems for reservoir spillway gates), the economy and reliability of manual operation are particularly prominent.
Advantages of umbrella gear gate valve:
1. High load-bearing capacity and strong pressure resistance
The multi-stage deceleration characteristics of the umbrella gear system enable it to withstand extremely large operating loads. In high-pressure pipelines in industries such as petroleum and chemical (such as transporting crude oil or liquefied natural gas), this valve can maintain stable sealing performance without deformation, especially suitable for large-diameter pipeline systems above DN50. Actual test data shows that under the same specifications, its allowable working pressure is about 30% higher than that of ordinary gate valves.
2. Accurate flow regulation characteristics
The linear opening method endows it with excellent flow control accuracy. When the gate is in the middle position, the flow area changes proportionally to the stroke, and with the help of scale markings, graded control can be achieved. This feature is widely used in the circulating water system of water treatment plants or thermal power plants to meet the demand for gradual operation.
3. Compact space adaptability
Compared to the large volume of electric actuators, the manual umbrella gear device adopts a vertical layout design, with a lower installation height and less space occupation. For narrow places such as underground pipe galleries and pump rooms, this structural advantage significantly reduces the cost of civil engineering.
4. Outstanding maintenance convenience
Open type gearboxes facilitate daily inspection of lubrication conditions, and the main worn components (such as copper worm gears and steel ring gears) are standardized consumables with clear replacement cycles and low costs. According to industry statistics, the overall failure rate of the machine under regular maintenance is less than 0.5 times per 10000 opening and closing cycles.
5. Bidirectional sealing reliability
The composite structure of metal hard seal and elastic packing ensures zero leakage risk under forward/reverse compression. Especially in the scenario of preventing medium backflow (such as water pump outlet check protection), its bidirectional cutoff function far exceeds the safety performance indicators of traditional swing check valves.
6. Excellent adaptability to low temperature conditions
The umbrella gear set made of alloy steel material can operate normally in a liquid nitrogen environment at -196 ℃, and the long valve stem guide design effectively avoids the jamming phenomenon caused by thermal expansion and contraction. This has irreplaceable technical value in the LNG storage and transportation field.
