The scientific storage method of ultra trace colorimetric dishes is something every researcher needs to learn
Date: 2025-10-23Read: 0

In life sciences, molecular biology, and high-precision spectrophotometric analysis, ultra trace colorimetric dishes only require 0.5-2 μ L of sample to complete the concentration and purity detection of precious biological samples such as DNA, RNA, and proteins. Its delicate characteristics are determined by its small optical path length and high-precision quartz or polymer material. Improper storage can lead to surface scratches, contamination, deformation, and even scrapping, affecting detection sensitivity and data accuracy. Mastering the scientific storage method of ultra trace colorimetric dishes is something that every researcher needs to learn.

1、 Cleaning
Before storage, it is necessary to ensure that the ultra trace colorimetric dish is clean and dry. Immediately after use, rinse repeatedly with deionized water, soak in 75% ethanol or specialized cleaning solution, and rinse three times with ultrapure water. It is strictly prohibited to use test tube brushes or hard objects for wiping to prevent scratching the inner wall. After cleaning, place it on a clean drying rack and let it air dry naturally or blow dry with clean nitrogen gas to ensure there are no water stains left.
2、 Special container
Original or specialized storage boxes must be used. This type of box is equipped with precise card slots inside, which can fix each colorimetric dish to prevent collision or rolling. Ordinary centrifuge tubes, beakers, or tissue wrapping can easily cause scratches or contamination, and should be strictly avoided.
3、 Avoid light and dust
Although quartz colorimetric dishes are resistant to light, long-term exposure to strong light may affect their optical performance. When stored, it should be placed in a dark drawer or cabinet. The storage box cover should be kept closed to prevent dust, fibers, or aerosols from falling in. The experimental table should be kept away from ventilation openings and reagent areas to avoid chemical vapor corrosion.
4、 Temperature and humidity control
The storage environment should be kept dry (relative humidity<60%) and temperature stable (15-25 ℃) to avoid deformation of polymer materials or growth of microorganisms caused by high temperature and humidity. Do not store the colorimetric dish next to an oven, refrigerator, or water bath.
5、 Classification management
If multiple types (such as quartz, UV plastic, different optical paths) are used, they should be stored in separate boxes and clearly labeled to prevent confusion. It is recommended to use separate colorimetric dishes for nucleic acid and protein detection to avoid cross contamination that may affect subsequent experiments.
6、 Handle with care
When taking and placing, pinch the top or side of the colorimetric dish with fingertips to avoid touching the optical window. Finger grease can form a film layer that interferes with absorbance readings.
