Quartz sample cell is a core optical component in UV Vis NIR spectroscopy analysis. Due to its excellent transparency and chemical stability in the 190-2500nm wavelength range, it is widely used in fields such as water quality detection, drug analysis, and nanomaterial characterization. However, although quartz material is resistant to high temperatures and corrosion, it is prone to a decrease in transmittance, baseline drift, and even data distortion due to surface scratches, pollutant adsorption, stress cracks, or seal failure. Scientific and standardized maintenance of quartz sample pools is the key to ensuring spectral accuracy.

1、 Clean immediately after use (at the end of each experiment)
Immediately rinse: Rinse quickly with deionized water or appropriate solvents (such as ethanol, acetone) to prevent the sample from drying out;
Avoid soaking in strong alkali or acid for a long time: concentrated phosphoric acid and hot concentrated alkaline solution can corrode quartz, and the cleaning time should be controlled within 5 minutes;
Do not scrub hard objects: only use soft, lint free cloth, lens paper, or specialized sponge to prevent scratching the optical surface.
2、 Deep cleaning and decontamination treatment (weekly or after pollution)
Organic residues: Soak in chromic acid solution (with caution) or a 7:3 sulfuric acid hydrogen peroxide mixture for 10 minutes, then rinse with plenty of deionized water until neutral;
Inorganic salt/metal ion deposition: Use 5% dilute nitric acid or EDTA solution for ultrasonic cleaning for 10-15 minutes;
Protein or biofilm: treated with 0.1M NaOH or specialized enzyme cleaning agent, followed by rinsing;
Ultrasonic assistance: Place the sample cell in a beaker containing cleaning solution and sonicate (power ≤ 100W) to avoid direct contact with the bottom of the ultrasonic tank.
3、 Drying and Storage Standards
Natural drying or nitrogen blowing: Do not bake at high temperatures (>150 ℃ may cause stress cracks);
Special storage box: placed in a clean box separated by soft cushions, with the optical side facing up to avoid stacking collisions;
Environmental requirements: Store in a dry, dark, dust-free cabinet with humidity<50%, away from acid mist and organic solvent vapors.
4、 Regular performance checks
Transmittance test: Scan the baseline with blank solvent (such as water or ethanol) every month. If the absorbance at 200nm is greater than 0.01, it indicates contamination or damage;
Visual inspection: Observe under strong light for scratches, white spots, cracks, or residual water stains;
Sealing verification (sample cell with lid): After injecting water, invert and check for leakage.
