Microcomputer controlled electronic universal testing machine: digital core platform for material mechanical property testing
Date: 2025-10-21Read: 1

Accurately obtaining the mechanical performance parameters of materials is the foundation for ensuring product reliability and safety in modern industrial manufacturing, new material research and development, quality control, and engineering safety assessment. The performance of materials in practical applications is directly determined by indicators such as tensile strength, yield strength, elongation at break, modulus of elasticity, compression performance, and bending strength. The Computer Controlled Electronic Universal Testing Machine, as a high-tech equipment that integrates precision machinery, sensor technology, automatic control, and computer software, has become a core tool for material mechanics testing in laboratories and production sites. It is widely used in fields such as metals, plastics, rubber, composite materials, textiles, building materials, medical equipment, etc.

1、 System composition and working principle

The microcomputer controlled electronic universal testing machine is an intelligent upgraded product that deeply integrates computer control technology on the basis of traditional electronic universal testing machines. Its core is to achieve precise control, real-time monitoring, data acquisition, and result analysis of the entire testing process through a microcomputer (PC or embedded system), and build a closed-loop, automated testing platform.

The main components include:

1. Host structure: Typically, a single column or double column portal frame is used, made of high-strength alloy steel to ensure rigidity and stability under high loads. The ball screw and servo motor work together to drive the crossbeam up and down, achieving precise displacement control.

2. Drive system: High performance AC servo motors are used, combined with precision reducers and synchronous belt drives, to provide smooth and stepless speed regulation loading capacity. The loading speed range is wide (0.001-1000 mm/min), meeting the requirements of different standards for speed.

3. Force measurement system: The core is a high-precision load cell, with a range covering several newtons to 600kN and an accuracy of up to 0.5 level (indication error ≤± 0.5%). The sensor converts the applied force into an electrical signal, which is amplified and A/D converted before being input into the microcomputer system.

4. Displacement measurement system: Real time acquisition of beam displacement through servo motor encoder or high-resolution grating ruler, with a resolution of up to 0.001mm, ensuring the accuracy of deformation measurement.

5. Fixture system: Multiple fixtures are equipped according to the testing materials and standards, such as wedge-shaped stretching fixtures, compression plates, bending supports, peeling fixtures, etc., to ensure that the sample is firmly clamped and evenly stressed.

6. Microcomputer control system and software: This is the "brain" of the device. Through specialized testing software, users can complete testing parameter settings (such as loading speed, shutdown conditions, sample size), start/stop testing, real-time monitoring of force displacement curves, automatic calculation of mechanical parameters, and generation of standard reports on the computer.

2、 Core technological advantages

1. High precision and high resolution

By adopting digital force and displacement acquisition technology, combined with advanced sensors and servo control algorithms, the high accuracy and repeatability of test data are ensured, meeting the requirements of international standards such as ISO, ASTM, GB, JIS, etc.

2. Fully digital control and automation

Accurate setting of loading modes (constant speed, constant force, constant strain), holding time, number of cycles, and shutdown conditions (such as reaching the set force value, displacement, or specimen fracture). Support multi-stage program control to automatically complete complex testing processes (such as stretching holding unloading cycles).

3. Intelligent software system

The testing software has powerful data processing capabilities:

-Real time drawing of force time, force displacement, stress-strain curves, etc;

-Automatically identify key parameters such as yield point, tensile strength, and fracture point;

-Support preset templates for multiple material standards (such as metal, plastic, rubber);

-Can generate test reports that comply with industry standards and support exporting in PDF, Excel, and other formats;

-Capable of database functionality, facilitating data storage, querying, and statistical analysis.

4. Human computer interaction friendly

The graphical interface is intuitive and easy to use, supporting both Chinese and English languages, and operators can get started without complex training.

5. Comprehensive security protection

Equipped with multiple safety mechanisms such as overload protection, limit protection, emergency stop, software protection, etc., to ensure the safety of equipment and operators.

3、 Typical testing functions and application areas

-Tensile test: to determine the tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, etc. of metal sheets, wires, plastics, fibers, tapes, etc.

-Compression test: used to test the compressive performance of concrete, foam materials, springs, packing boxes, etc.

-Bending test: Evaluate the bending strength and deflection of plastics, composite materials, ceramics, etc.

-Peel and Tear Test: Used for testing the peel strength and tear strength of adhesives, composite films, and textiles.

-Cyclic fatigue test: Some models support dynamic loading to simulate the fatigue performance of materials under alternating loads.

Application industry:

-Manufacturing industry: quality inspection of automotive parts, aerospace materials, and electronic connectors.

-Building materials industry: mechanical performance evaluation of steel bars, concrete, bricks, and insulation materials.

-Research and Education: Used by universities and research institutes for the development of new materials and mechanical research.

The microcomputer controlled electronic universal testing machine is not only a "judge" of material properties, but also a "data engine" that promotes industrial technological progress. It transforms traditional mechanical testing into a digital and intelligent process, greatly improving testing efficiency, data reliability, and traceability.
