Guidelines for Calibration Cycle and Method of High Pressure Microfluidic Homogenizer
Date: 2025-09-19Read: 1
  High pressure microjet homogenizerThe nanoscale refinement of materials is achieved through ultra-high pressure (usually 100-300MPa) microjet technology, and its core performance (such as pressure accuracy and flow stability) directly affects the homogenization effect and product quality. To ensure long-term stable operation of the equipment, it is necessary to scientifically establish calibration cycles and standardize calibration methods.
1、 Calibration cycle: flexible formulation based on usage frequency and scenarios
The calibration cycle needs to be dynamically adjusted based on the equipment's usage intensity and environmental conditions
• Routine laboratory scenario (daily usage ≤ 4 hours, handling routine materials): It is recommended to perform basic calibration (pressure, flow rate) every 3 months and comprehensive calibration (including temperature and pulse stability) every 6 months;
High frequency industrial scenarios (daily use ≥ 8 hours, continuous processing of high viscosity/corrosive materials): need to be shortened to calibrate pressure and flow every 1-2 months, and conduct comprehensive inspections every 3 months;
Special scenarios (such as handling biologically active materials, nanomedicines, and other parameter sensitive applications): After each replacement of core consumables (such as interaction chambers, nozzles) or equipment maintenance, recalibration must be performed.
When the ambient temperature (recommended 20-25 ℃) and humidity (≤ 60%) fluctuate violently, it is necessary to increase the frequency of temporary calibration to avoid the influence of temperature and humidity on the accuracy of the pressure sensor.
2、 Calibration method: precise verification and adjustment of core parameters
1. Pressure calibration (key parameters)
Connect the outlet pipeline of the homogenizer using a high-precision digital pressure gauge (with a range covering the larger pressure of the equipment and an accuracy of ± 0.5% FS), and test it separately under no-load and full load (higher working pressure) states: start the equipment and gradually increase the pressure to the preset value (such as 150MPa), compare the displayed value of the pressure gauge with the value on the equipment control panel, and the deviation should be ≤ ± 2% (such as allowing ± 3MPa error at 150MPa). If it exceeds the tolerance, it needs to be corrected by adjusting the pressure sensor calibration screw or software parameters.
2. Flow calibration
By connecting high-precision flow meters (such as Coriolis mass flow meters, with an accuracy of ± 0.2%) in series in the feed pipeline, the actual material throughput per unit time (1 minute) is recorded, and compared with the set flow rate of the equipment (such as 10L/h), the deviation should be ≤ ± 3%. If the flow is insufficient, it is necessary to check the sealing of the high-pressure pump plunger, the wear of the one-way valve, or the problem of pipeline blockage.

3. Auxiliary parameter calibration
Temperature: Use a calibrated thermometer (accuracy ± 0.1 ℃) to monitor the outlet temperature of the homogenization chamber, ensuring that the temperature rise during continuous operation is ≤ 10 ℃ (to prevent material denaturation);
Pulse stability: Observe the pressure curve (through the data acquisition system), and the fluctuation should be ≤ ± 5% under normal conditions. If high-frequency pulses (>± 10%) occur, check the wear of the high-pressure pump plunger or the effectiveness of the buffering system.
After calibration is completed, a calibration report (recording parameters, deviation values, adjustment measures, and calibration personnel/date) should be issued and archived for future reference. For laboratories/factories certified by ISO 9001 or GMP, calibration results must also comply with relevant regulatory requirements (such as USP<1225>or JJG regulations).
