Brief Introduction

The advantages and disadvantages of inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) as a highly sensitive tool for elemental analysis can be comprehensively evaluated from the dimensions of performance, cost, and operation

Advantages:

Multi element synchronous detection: capable of simultaneous analysisMore than 70 elements, covering trace (ppb level) to constant (percentage level), suitable for comprehensive element screening of complex samples.

High sensitivity and wide linear range: detection limit as low as0.001μg/L, The linear range reaches 4-6 orders of magnitude, reducing dilution steps and improving analysis efficiency.

Strong anti-interference ability: High temperature plasma atomizes the sample, combined with full spectrum direct reading technology, effectively eliminating chemical interference and matrix effects.

Fast analysis speed: single detection only requires1-3 minutes, coupled with an automatic sampling system, high-throughput analysis can be achieved to meet large-scale detection needs.

Wide sample adaptability: supports liquid, solid (laser ablation injection), and gas samples, covering multiple fields such as geology, environmental protection, food, metallurgy, etc.

Disadvantages:

High equipment cost: The instrument is expensive and requires high-purity gas, cooling system, etc., resulting in high operation and maintenance costs.

Sample pretreatment is complex: solid samples need to be digested, which may introduce contamination or result in loss of volatile elements; High salt samples need to be pre treated to avoid clogging.

Strict requirements for operating environment: stable power supply, clean laboratory, and dedicated gas source are required.

Spectral line interference problem: There may be spectral line overlap in complex matrices, which needs to be corrected through algorithms; The sensitivity for detecting light elements and some non-metallic substances is limited.
