AFS Atomic Fluorescence Spectrometer

AFS Atomic Fluorescence Spectrometer (AFS) is a high-sensitivity trace analysis instrument based on the wavelength and intensity of atomic fluorescence spectral lines for qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances. Its working principle is to convert the elements to be tested in the sample into gaseous ground state free atoms. These atoms absorb radiation energy at a specific frequency and transition to a high-energy state. When they return to the ground state, they release energy in the form of characteristic spectra, known as atomic fluorescence. By measuring the intensity of fluorescence, the content of the element to be tested in the sample can be determined.

AFS has the advantages of high sensitivity, low detection limit (up to PPT level), simple spectral lines, wide linear range (3-5 orders of magnitude), and can achieve simultaneous determination of multiple elements. It is widely used in fields such as environmental science, geology, minerals, water quality monitoring, biological products, and medical analysis, and is particularly suitable for trace analysis of various elements such as arsenic, mercury, selenium, and lead.

The instrument mainly consists of an excitation light source, an atomizer, an optical system, a detector, and a data processing system. With the development of technology, AFS is moving towards miniaturization, portability, and rapid testing to meet the new requirements of environmental detection in the new era.
