Standardizing the use of Chemglass reactors is the fundamental guarantee for achieving controllable reactions
Date: 2025-12-08Read: 1

The Chemglass reactor, as a core equipment in chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and new material synthesis, achieves precise temperature control and constant temperature control of the materials inside the reactor by introducing heat transfer oil, steam, or cooling water into the jacket. Its safe and efficient operation is not only related to product quality, but also directly related to personnel and environmental safety. If operated improperly, it can easily cause overpressure, overheating, material splashing, and even explosion accidents. Mastering the scientific and standardized use of Chemglass reactors is the fundamental guarantee for achieving controllable reactions, safe processes, and stable outputs.

1、 Preparation before use
Check equipment status: Confirm that there are no cracks or bulges in the kettle body and jacket, and that the pressure gauge and safety valve are within their valid calibration period;
Check the sealing system: The mechanical seal or magnetic seal is intact, with no signs of leakage, and the cooling water/lubricant is sufficient;
Check process parameters: verify whether the material ratio, reaction temperature, upper pressure limit, and stirring speed match the process specifications.
2、 Standardize the feeding and start-up process
Feeding operation
Solid materials are added from manholes or feeding ports, while liquids are slowly injected through metering pumps or high-level tanks;
It is strictly prohibited to feed materials in excess of volume (usually ≤ 70%), and reserve gas space to prevent foam overflow;
Flammable and explosive materials require nitrogen to replace the air inside the kettle, and only when the oxygen content is less than 1% can the temperature be increased.
Heating/cooling control
Start stirring first when heating up, then slowly introduce heat medium (such as heat transfer oil), with a heating rate of ≤ 5 ℃/min to prevent local overheating;
When cooling, first stop the heat source and wait for the kettle temperature to drop below 80 ℃ before passing cooling water to avoid deformation of the kettle body caused by thermal shock;
The inlet and outlet valves of the jacket should be fully opened to ensure smooth flow of the medium, and pressure build-up is strictly prohibited.
operation monitoring
Real time observation of temperature, pressure, and stirring current to ensure stability;
If the pressure rises abnormally, immediately stop heating, start the cooling program, and check if the exhaust/condensation system is unobstructed.
3、 Reaction completion and unloading
Stop heating/cooling first, wait until the kettle temperature is ≤ 50 ℃ and the pressure returns to zero before opening the lid;
Before unloading, confirm that the discharge valve is unobstructed, and high viscosity materials can be pressurized with nitrogen gas (pressure<0.2MPa);
After unloading, clean the inner wall of the kettle and the stirring blade in a timely manner to prevent the solidification of residues from affecting the next reaction.
