Operation and maintenance of ion activity meter
Date: 2025-09-04Read: 26
Ion activity meterThe core principle is potentiometric analysis, which calculates ion activity by measuring the difference in electromotive force between the ion selective electrode and the reference electrode, combined with the Nernst equation. The specific steps are as follows:
Electrode system: composed of ion selective electrodes (such as specialized electrodes for fluorine, chlorine, sodium, etc.) and reference electrodes (such as saturated calomel electrodes). Ionic selective electrodes can specifically respond to target ions and convert their activity into potential signals.
Electromotive force measurement: After immersing the electrode in the test solution, the difference in ion activity will generate a potential difference (electromotive force). The instrument measures the potential difference through high-precision circuits.
  Ion activity meterOperation and maintenance:
Measurement steps:
Connect the power and preheat the instrument.
Clean the electrode, rinse with deionized water, and then absorb dry.
Insert the electrode into the solution to be tested, stir and let it stand for reading.
After the measurement is completed, clean the electrodes and store them properly.
Electrode maintenance:
Regularly soak the electrode in an activating solution (such as using a 10 μ mol/L NaF solution for fluoride electrodes).
When stored for a long time, use a short-circuit plug to protect the input end and avoid electrode damage.
Calibration and Calibration:
Use standard solution for two-point calibration to ensure measurement accuracy.
The slope adjustment range is usually 80% -120% to adapt to different electrode characteristics.
