How should refrigeration cycle units be maintained in daily life?
Date: 2025-08-29Read: 1

The daily maintenance of a refrigeration cycle is the key to ensuring its refrigeration efficiency, temperature control accuracy, and extending equipment life. The core revolves around "cleaning, inspection, protection, and standardized operation", which can be divided into the following aspects:

1、 Maintenance of working medium: "blood" management of refrigeration system
The working medium (usually antifreeze, deionized water, or specialized coolant) directly affects heat transfer efficiency and equipment safety, and is the core of daily maintenance.
Media type and purity control
Strictly follow the equipment manual to select the medium: special antifreeze must be used for low temperature conditions (such as below 0 ℃) (it needs to be confirmed that its freezing point meets the working temperature requirements to avoid freezing and cracking the pipeline); Deionized water can be used under normal or medium temperature conditions (to avoid clogging the heat exchanger with scale and impurities from ordinary tap water).
It is prohibited to mix different brands and types of media to prevent chemical reactions from causing sedimentation or corrosion of pipelines.
Medium level and status inspection
Observe the liquid level gauge before starting up every day to ensure that the medium liquid level is between the "lowest" and "highest" marks: a low liquid level can cause the pump body to idle, the refrigeration efficiency to decrease, and even burn out the circulation pump; Excessive liquid level may overflow during heating.
Weekly check the condition of the medium: If there is turbidity, discoloration, floating debris or sediment, a new medium should be replaced immediately (thoroughly clean the circulation pipeline before replacement to avoid residual impurities contaminating the new medium).
Medium replacement cycle
Under normal use, it is recommended to replace the antifreeze every 6-12 months; It is recommended to replace deionized water every 3-6 months (if there is a lot of dust in the environment and frequent use, it can be shortened to 2-3 months).
2、 Cleaning and maintenance: avoid impurities affecting heat exchange and operation
The cleaning of the surface and internal key components of the equipment can effectively prevent blockage, corrosion, and efficiency degradation.
External cleaning (daily/weekly)
Wipe the equipment casing and operation panel with a dry soft cloth to remove dust and oil stains (avoid using corrosive solvents such as alcohol and gasoline to prevent panel fading or casing aging).
Clean the dust nets at the inlet and outlet of the equipment: Remove the dust nets every week, rinse them with clean water or clean them with a brush (especially in workshops with high dust, increase the cleaning frequency), and ensure that the heat dissipation ducts are unobstructed - duct blockage can cause the compressor and fan to overheat, triggering overload protection shutdown.
Internal cleaning (monthly/quarterly)
Water tank cleaning: After shutting down and draining the medium, open the water tank cover and use a soft brush or sponge to clean the scale and impurities on the inner wall of the water tank (neutral cleaning agents can be used, strong acids and alkalis are prohibited), then rinse with deionized water and refill with medium.
Heat exchanger cleaning: If the equipment is equipped with a plate or fin heat exchanger, check its surface for dust and scale every month - the fin heat exchanger can be cleaned with compressed air (low pressure, avoid blowing bent fins) or a vacuum cleaner; If the plate heat exchanger is severely scaled, it should be disassembled according to the instructions and soaked in a special descaling agent for cleaning.
3、 Operation status check: timely detection of abnormal hidden dangers
Through sensory observation and simple testing during daily operation, identify potential risks of malfunctions in advance.
Check before startup (every time startup)
Power supply and wiring: Confirm that the power cord is not damaged, the plug is in good contact, and the grounding circuit is reliable (refrigeration cycle units are electrical equipment, and poor grounding may cause electric shock or equipment failure).
Valves and pipelines: Check whether the valves in the circulation pipeline are in the open state (if the valves are closed, it may cause a sudden increase in system pressure and damage the pump body), and whether there is any leakage at the pipeline interface (if medium leakage is found, the machine should be stopped to tighten the joints or replace the seals).
In operation monitoring (daily runtime)
Temperature stability: Observe the deviation between the actual temperature displayed on the operation panel and the set temperature. If the deviation exceeds ± 0.5 ℃ (conventional accuracy requirement), check whether the medium is insufficient, whether the heat exchanger is dirty or blocked, or calibrate the temperature sensor.
Sound and vibration: During normal operation, the sound of the compressor and circulation pump should be smooth and without any abnormal noise (such as excessive buzzing, clicking, or severe vibration, which may be due to compressor failure, pump bearing wear, or impeller jamming impurities, and should be stopped immediately for inspection).
Component temperature: Touch the compressor casing and fan casing with your hand, and the temperature should be within the "warm" range (not exceeding 70 ℃); If there is a burning sensation, it is necessary to check whether the heat dissipation is unobstructed or whether the compressor is lacking in fluorine (which needs to be checked by professional personnel).
4、 Standardized operation and shutdown maintenance: reduce equipment wear and tear
Correct operating habits can significantly reduce the probability of equipment failure.
Operational standards during operation
Prohibit sudden temperature rise and drop: When setting the temperature, it should be gradually adjusted (such as not exceeding 5-10 ℃ each time) to avoid frequent start and stop of the compressor, which may shorten its service life.
Avoid "overload operation": The flow rate and pressure of the circulating pump should match the requirements of the load equipment, and it is forbidden to operate beyond the rated flow rate for a long time (which can be observed through a pressure gauge. If the pressure continues to exceed the rated value, check whether the pipeline is blocked).
Maintenance after shutdown (each shutdown/long-term shutdown)
Short term shutdown (within a few days): Turn off the power and keep the medium in the water tank (to avoid oxidation of components due to empty tanks). No special treatment is required before restarting, only check the liquid level and pipelines.
Long term shutdown (exceeding 1 month): It is necessary to drain the medium in the water tank and pipeline (especially the antifreeze, which may deteriorate if left to stand for a long time), rinse the system with deionized water, and blow dry; Turn off the power, cover with a dust cover, and place in a dry, ventilated, and non corrosive gas environment to avoid direct sunlight or moisture that may cause component corrosion.
In short, the daily maintenance of refrigeration cycle units is "prevention oriented", with medium management, clean heat dissipation, condition monitoring, and standardized operation as the core, which can effectively ensure the stable operation of the equipment, reduce the risk of sudden failures, and extend its service life.
