1. Design Freedom: Breaking through the Shape Limitations of Traditional Processing
Traditional manufacturing (such as cutting and casting) relies on "subtraction" or "mold shaping", making it difficult to achieve complex structures;Laser 3D printerBy using 'additive stacking', difficult designs can be easily completed.
Support for complex structure manufacturing: It can directly print shapes that traditional processes cannot achieve, such as hollow frames, internal flow channels, topology optimized structures, without the need for disassembly and assembly.
No need for mold development: Small batch or personalized products can be directly printed, eliminating the time-consuming and costly mold design and production process in traditional manufacturing, and shortening the research and development cycle.
2. Material utilization and cost: reduce waste, adapt to small batch production
Traditional manufacturing often results in material waste due to "cutting removal" or "mold loss", and the cost remains high during small-scale production; Laser 3D printing has more advantages in these two aspects.
High material utilization rate: Materials are only stacked in the areas that need to be formed, and unused powders for powder printing (such as SLM/SLS) can be recycled and reused. The material waste rate is usually less than 10%, much lower than the 30% -50% of cutting processing.
Small batch production is more cost-effective: In traditional manufacturing, the cost of molds allocated for small batch production is high; Laser 3D printing does not require molds, resulting in lower total production costs for single or small batch products.
3. Production efficiency and cycle: Shorten the R&D and production chain
Traditional manufacturing requires multiple stages of "design mold processing assembly" and a long cycle; Laser 3D printing can simplify the process and accelerate the landing of products.
Shortened R&D cycle: From 3D models to solid parts, it can be completed in just a few hours without waiting for mold production, making it suitable for rapid iterative testing.
Reduce assembly steps: Complex components can be "integrated printed", such as structures that require splitting 5-10 parts for assembly in traditional manufacturing. Laser 3D printing can be formed in one go, reducing assembly errors and labor costs.
