ISO 15106-3 film permeameter (electrolytic method) is a specialized instrument used to determine the water vapor permeability of plastic films, composite films, high barrier materials, sheets, metal foils, and other materials. This instrument is based on the principle of electrolytic sensor testing, and evaluates the water vapor barrier performance of materials by measuring the diffusion and permeation phenomenon of water vapor in thin films.
The working principle of this tester is based on electrolytic testing. The test sample is clamped between a constant temperature dry and wet chamber, creating a certain humidity difference on both sides of the sample. Due to the presence of humidity gradient, water vapor will diffuse and permeate from the high humidity side to the low humidity side. On the low humidity side, the transmitted water vapor is carried by the flowing dry carrier gas to the electrolytic moisture sensor. Phosphorus pentoxide in the sensor quantitatively absorbs water vapor and decomposes it into hydrogen and oxygen through electrolysis. By analyzing and calculating the electrical signals of the sensor, the water vapor permeability and moisture permeability coefficient of the sample are obtained.
ISO 15106-3 thin film moisture permeability tester (electrolytic method) is widely used in food packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, medical device packaging and other fields to evaluate the water vapor barrier performance of packaging materials, ensuring the quality and safety of products within their shelf life.
This instrument complies with ISO 15106-3 standard and may also comply with other relevant national and international standards, such as GB/T 21529, DIN 53122-2, YBB 00092003, etc.
