Carbon sulfur analyzerIt is an instrument used for quantitative analysis of carbon and sulfur elements in steel materials and other substances, and is widely used in industrial production and scientific research fields. Its working principle is based on combustion method. The carrier gas (oxygen) is purified and introduced into a combustion furnace (resistance furnace or high-frequency furnace). The sample is oxidized by oxygen at high temperatures in the combustion furnace, and carbon and sulfur are converted into carbon dioxide (CO ₂) and sulfur dioxide (SO ₂), respectively. After passing through dust removal and water purification devices, the generated oxides are loaded into a sulfur detection tank for sulfur measurement. Afterwards, the mixed gas enters the heated catalyst furnace, where CO is converted to CO ₂ and SO ₂ is converted to SO3. It then enters the desulfurization reagent tube and is introduced into the carbon detection cell for carbon measurement. The residual gas is emitted outdoors, and the analysis results are displayed in the form of% C and% S on the host LCD screen and computer monitor and stored.
Carbon sulfur analyzerOperation steps:
1、 Startup and initialization
1. Start the instrument
Turn on the power, start the control software, and enter the operation interface.
Check the gas path pressure (such as oxygen pressure of 0.2~0.4 MPa) to ensure stable gas supply.
2. Preheating and Calibration
Preheat the combustion tube and detector according to the instrument requirements (usually takes 10-30 minutes).
Use standard substances (such as steel standards, carbonate standards) or standard gases for calibration, and input calibration parameters (such as carbon and sulfur content, correction factors).
2、 Sample analysis
1. Solid sample analysis (using high-frequency combustion method as an example)
Load sample:
Place the weighed sample into a crucible (such as a ceramic crucible or tin bag) to avoid spilling.
Place the crucible in the sample slot of the high-frequency induction furnace and close the furnace cover.
Start analysis:
Select the sample number in the software and click the "Start" or "Run" button.
The instrument automatically introduces oxygen and heats the combustion sample at high frequency (up to 1800 ℃) to generate CO ₂ and SO ₂ gases.
Data collection:
After dust removal and dehumidification, the gas enters the detector (such as an infrared cell or ultraviolet fluorescence chamber), and the software displays the carbon and sulfur content curve in real time.
Wait for the analysis to complete (usually 1-2 minutes) and save the results.
2. Liquid sample analysis
Liquid injection:
Use a specialized syringe or liquid sampler to aspirate the sample and inject it into a quartz boat or tin bag.
Some instruments require the addition of combustion aids (such as tungsten particles) to improve combustion efficiency.
Subsequent steps: Analyze the same solid sample.
3、 Data recording and processing
view results
The software automatically calculates and displays carbon and sulfur content (such as mass fraction%), and can mark outliers (such as exceeding the calibration range).
Check repeatability: The deviation of multiple measurements of the same sample should be within the allowable range (such as ± 0.005%).
Data export
Export the results to Excel, PDF, or CSV format, record sample information, test conditions (such as date, instrument model, calibration parameters).
4、 Shutdown and maintenance
Cleaning equipment
Clean the combustion tube, crucible, and sample tank, and use a brush to remove residual debris.
Regularly wipe the infrared cell window with anhydrous ethanol or specialized cleaning agents to avoid contamination affecting the detection.
Shut down the system
Close the high-frequency furnace and gas valve, and turn off the power after the instrument cools down.
Check the exhaust treatment device to ensure there are no residual gas leaks.
routine maintenance
Regularly replace oxygen filters, dust removal devices, and catalysts (if applicable).
Check the calibration curve monthly and recalibrate if necessary.
