What new material growth opportunities will China have in 2026?
Date: 2025-12-08Read: 0

summary
As 2025 draws to a close, the Chinese chemical industry is mixed, with technological iteration and scenario fission slowly becoming the mainstream of the industry. What new growth opportunities will emerge in the field of new materials as 2026 approaches?
2025 is nearing its end. For many people in the materials industry, the key words for this year may be:
fluctuation
differentiation
endurance
.
But if you take a look at this year's policy documents, corporate announcements, production line schedules, effective dates of regulations, and industry plans one by one, you will find an interesting phenomenon:
Many key nodes are concentrated in 2026.
As a company that has been deeply involved in the field of viscosity instruments and laboratory automation in the materials industry for 16 years, we cannot say that we have seen through the most, but we have indeed seen some common signals from customers, supply chains, and industry data.
The following content is not a "prediction" or "judgment", but rather our compilation, inference, and industry experience based on public information for your reference.

01 | Third generation semiconductor: 8-inch SiC enters the "engineering climbing stage"

A noticeable change this year is:
The 8-inch SiC production line has really been connected.
This is not what we said, it has been publicly disclosed by multiple companies.
Once this type of production line can operate, there will generally be two chain reactions in the industry:
  • The yield will enter a period of stable improvement
  • There will be an expected decrease in costs
At the same time, we also see two downstream signals stuck in 2026:
  • The 800V architecture of new energy vehicles is accelerating its diffusion
  • The GaN RF field test node on the communication side is also scheduled for 2026
Combined with the publicly announced expansion plan, a small inference can be made: 2026 may be the year of "moving from verification to scale verification".
For companies like ours that do material testing, we have indeed received more demands for "material consistency testing" and "batch stability" from semiconductor and advanced material enterprises this year.
That's also why we noticed this trend.

02 | Solid state batteries: Some technological milestones happen to fall in 2026

The sound of solid-state batteries has been quite chaotic in recent years. But there are several public timelines that have become consistent this year:
  • Some research teams (such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences) have written 'batch production' in 2026
  • Multiple listed companies have written 'building production lines/mass production' in 2026
  • Some car companies' solid-state vehicle models are also planned for the 2026-2027 period
This does not mean that '2026 will definitely explode', but it does indicate a fact:
The rhythm of the chain from laboratory to pilot testing to engineering is indeed pointing towards 2026.
We clearly feel that more and more solid material companies are paying attention to "batch differences" and "consistency verification" when conducting viscosity, pre-treatment, and automated experimental testing for material companies.
This usually occurs during the stage when industries shift from "research" to "engineering implementation".

03 | Biobased materials: Regulations are faster than the market, 2026 is the hard node

This is not industry speculation, but written in regulations:
  • EU PPWR: Starting from August 12, 226, some packaging materials must comply with new requirements
  • China's GB/T Biobased Carbon Content and Traceability: Mandatory Implementation from 2026
Overlay publicly available industry actions:
  • Domestic enterprises will significantly accelerate the upgrading of PLA/PHA technology from 2024 to 2025
  • Multiple new production lines scheduled for 2026
  • Export enterprises begin to lay out material verification in advance
So we tend to believe that 2026 is a year driven by regulations, rather than a year when the market suddenly improves.
We have also found that since the beginning of this year, there has been a significant increase in demand for "testing, traceability, and data consistency" from biobased enterprises when serving material companies.
Once the regulations come into effect, these demands will continue to increase.

04 | Flexible Electronics: After the standard is implemented, the industry chain may be more daring to move forward

The biggest bottleneck of flexible electronics in recent years is the lack of unified reliability standards.
The requirements for upstream, midstream, and downstream are all different, and everyone is "crossing the river by feeling the stones".
But there are two important time points in 2026:
  • The ISO Flexible Electronic Reliability Standard is expected to be implemented
  • Samsung Vietnam flexible OLED production line scheduled for 2026
  • The expansion of domestic panel/material enterprises is concentrated in 2025-2026
Generally speaking:
The next year when standards are implemented will be a year when the industry is more daring to move forward.
This is also the trend logic we see.

Why should we pay special attention to 2026?

We are not a research institution, nor do we make industry forecasts. We are just a company that has been in the material testing industry, viscosity and automation laboratory fields for 16 years.
Our method of judging trends is very simple:
  • When will the production line be built
  • When will the regulations come into effect
  • When will the standards be implemented
  • When do customers start paying attention to 'stability'
  • When will material companies start doing 'batch consistency'
These are usually closer to the pace of the real industry than 'predictions'.
And this year, we have clearly felt that more and more companies are preparing for 2026.
more:
  • Consistency requirements
  • Batch difference analysis
  • Long term monitoring of content/viscosity/molecular weight
  • Automated pre-processing
  • Laboratory digitalization and data traceability system
These needs were not as urgent in the past.
That's why we pay special attention to 2026.
We don't predict, we only share the signals we see

We don't feel like we're in the industry, nor do we want to talk too much.
But as a first tier enterprise that has been in the industry for 16 years, we do see:
  • Production line scheduling
  • Regulations come into effect
  • standard implementation
  • Engineering operation
  • Changes in customer behavior
  • Increased attention to consistency
These 'real-world actions' are all pointing towards 2026.
It may not be particularly "hot", but it is likely to be the year when many material tracks truly begin to "enter the engineering stage".
This is our observation based on data and industry experience for your reference.
