As the core equipment for environmental monitoring, temperature and humidity recorders are widely used in fields such as warehousing, medical care, and scientific research. Its stability directly affects the reliability of data and the accuracy of decision-making. The following provides systematic solutions for six typical faults:
1、 The measurement value has a large deviation (not consistent with the actual situation)
Phenomenon: Display temperature/humidity continuously above or below the true value.
Cause:
Calibration failure: Sensor characteristic drift after long-term use;
Environmental interference: strong electromagnetic fields or corrosive gases affecting the probe;
Improper installation location: close to heat/cold sources or poorly ventilated areas.
solve:
Use a standard temperature and humidity meter (such as a dry wet bulb hygrometer) for on-site comparison, enter the menu to perform two-point calibration (zero point+range);
Replace the anti-interference sensor probe and install a protective cover to isolate chemical gases;
Adjust the installation position to the center of the space, away from the air conditioning vents and direct sunlight.
2、 Slow sensor response
Phenomenon: After environmental changes, it takes several minutes for the values to synchronize and update.
Cause:
Filter blockage: Dust accumulation hinders air circulation;
Sensor aging: The sensitivity of capacitive humidity sensors decreases after absorbing moisture;
Sampling frequency too low: The default setting is not suitable for fast fluctuation scenarios.
solve:
Dismantle the air inlet filter and blow it in reverse with compressed air or clean it with neutral detergent;
Replace the sensor module with the same model and upgrade it to an anti condensation design if necessary;
Set the middle note high sampling frequency (≥ 1 time/second is recommended) to shorten the response delay.
3、 No reading or garbled text on the display screen
Phenomenon: Black screen, blurred screen, or overlapping characters.
Cause:
Power supply abnormality: battery depletion or external power adapter failure;
Poor contact of the circuit: loose or damp wiring plug, short circuit;
Program crash: firmware error causing driver exception.
solve:
Replace the battery with a new one (pay attention to the positive and negative directions) and test whether the external power supply voltage matches;
After shutting down, unplug the internal wiring and dry the circuit board with a hair dryer at low temperature;
Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds to restore the factory settings. If it still doesn't work, return to the factory for flashing.
4、 Data cannot be saved/exported
Phenomenon: Missing historical records, no response when connected to the computer.
Cause:
Storage card failure: SD card formatting error or full capacity;
Communication protocol incompatibility: RS485/USB interface driver not installed;
Permission restriction: The operating system prohibits write permission.
solve:
Format the storage card to FAT32 format and reserve at least 20% remaining space;
Install the driver program and switch to the administrator account for operation;
Switch to Bluetooth/WiFi wireless transmission to avoid concurrent conflicts among multiple devices.
5、 Alarm function failure
Phenomenon: The alarm does not ring when exceeding the limit, and the relay does not operate.
Cause:
Threshold setting error: upper and lower limit parameters were mistakenly modified;
Buzzer damage: Prolonged high pitched alarm causing coil burnout;
Relay contact oxidation: Poor contact caused by humid environment.
solve:
Verify the alarm threshold against actual requirements and lock key parameters with password protection;
Replace the waterproof piezoelectric ceramic buzzer to reduce the alarm volume and extend its lifespan;
Polish the relay contacts with sandpaper and apply conductive silicone grease to prevent moisture.
6、 Sudden decrease in battery life
Phenomenon: The new battery runs out within a few days.
Cause:
Backlight always on: automatic screen off time not set;
Wireless module power consumption: Bluetooth/GPS continuously turned on;
Poor battery quality: Non original batteries have excessive internal resistance.
solve:
Set the screen brightness to low and turn off the screen after 5 minutes of inactivity;
Disable non essential wireless functions and only enable them when uploading data;
Replace the original lithium thionyl chloride battery to avoid mixing rechargeable batteries.
The reliable operation of temperature and humidity recorders relies on "regular calibration+scientific maintenance". It is recommended to conduct cross validation once a month, clean sensor filters quarterly, and replace backup batteries annually.
