Ultrasonic graphene dispersion equipment utilizes high-frequency cavitation effect to efficiently peel off graphite layers, remove aggregates, and stably disperse them in solvents, making it a key equipment for preparing high-quality graphene solutions. However, in practical operation, low efficiency and even equipment damage are often caused by improper parameter settings, medium characteristics, or equipment maintenance negligence. Scientifically identifying problems with ultrasonic graphene dispersion equipment and taking targeted measures is the core to ensure dispersion effectiveness and service life.

1、 Poor dispersion effect and severe agglomeration
Reason: Insufficient ultrasound power, short processing time, improper solvent selection, or large particle size of graphite raw materials.
resolvent:
Optimize process parameters: It is recommended to set the power to 60% -80% of the rated value of the equipment to avoid local overheating and carbonization caused by excessive power;
Extend processing time (usually 30-120 minutes) and adopt intermittent working mode (such as 5 seconds on/2 seconds off) to prevent rapid temperature rise;
Select high surface tension matching solvents such as NMP, DMF, or aqueous solutions containing surfactants;
Pre grind graphite raw materials to the micrometer level to improve peeling efficiency.
2、 The sample temperature rises sharply
Reason: Continuous ultrasonic heat generation is concentrated and the cooling is insufficient. High temperature not only damages the structure of graphene, but may also cause solvent evaporation or combustion.
resolvent:
Ice bath or external circulating cooling system must be used to control the system temperature below 40 ℃;
Using pulse mode to reduce average power;
The liquid level in the container is moderate (covering the transducer but not full) to ensure effective heat dissipation.
3、 Wear or breakage of ultrasonic probe (amplitude rod)
Reason: Probe contact with container bottom/wall, dry burning, corrosive solvent erosion, or prolonged high load operation.
resolvent:
The probe should be suspended at the center of the liquid level, with a distance of ≥ 1cm from the bottom of the container. It is strictly prohibited to start it without load or touch hard objects;
When dealing with strong acid and strong alkali systems, use titanium alloy probes and shorten the single working time;
Regularly check whether the probe end face is concave or cracked, and replace worn parts in a timely manner.
4、 Equipment alarm or automatic shutdown
Reason: Overheating protection triggered, abnormal load (such as insufficient liquid), power fluctuation or circuit failure.
resolvent:
Ensure that the liquid volume meets the minimum volume requirement (usually ≥ 50mL);
Restart the device after it has cooled down for 30 minutes;
Check the stability of the power supply voltage and install a voltage regulator if necessary.
