Grain specific columns are column devices used for analyzing or processing grain components, which can be divided into different types for storage ventilation and laboratory testing according to their purposes.
Grain specific columns for storage ventilation: They are key equipment in grain storage facilities, mainly used to regulate the temperature and humidity of grain piles. It usually consists of ventilation ducts, ventilation openings, support structures, and control systems, made of corrosion-resistant, rust proof, and insect proof materials such as galvanized steel plates, stainless steel, or high-strength plastics. Its design considers aerodynamic principles and can introduce external air into the interior of the grain silo through forced ventilation or natural ventilation, while discharging the humid and hot air inside the silo, effectively reducing the humidity and temperature inside the grain pile, delaying grain aging, and preventing the growth of mold and pests. From the perspective of product structure, it is mainly divided into two categories: fixed and mobile. Fixed ventilation columns are mostly used in large grain depots, while mobile ones are suitable for small and medium-sized grain depots and temporary storage areas.
Grain specific columns for laboratory testing: mainly used for the separation and purification of specific components in grains, widely used in food safety testing and food analysis fields.
The maintenance of grain specific chromatography columns should focus on preventing contamination, regular cleaning, and proper storage. The specific points are as follows:
Preventing pollution and timely cleaning
After the analysis is completed, the column should be immediately rinsed with ultrapure water to remove residual buffer salts or contaminants. If analyzing high salt samples (such as seawater and industrial wastewater), it is necessary to first rinse with ultrapure water until the conductivity is restored, then rinse with a 5% -10% methanol or acetonitrile solution, and finally equilibrate with ultrapure water.
短期存放管理
If the column needs to be stored for a short period of time (<1 week), it should be stored in the initial rinsing solution, sealed at both ends, and placed vertically in a cool place. Before storage, rinse with ultrapure water until there is no salt to avoid salt crystallization blocking the pores of the packing material.
Long term storage and recovery
Columns that are not used for a long time need to be deeply protected: first rinse with ultrapure water, then replace the water with a 5% -10% methanol or acetonitrile solution, and then store in pure methanol or acetonitrile. Seal and store in a refrigerator at 4-10 ℃. When resuming use, rinse with ultrapure water for 30 minutes and gradually transition to the initial rinsing solution until the baseline is stable.
