The technical principle of ROHS analyzer: Multi technology fusion to achieve precise detection
Date: 2025-07-25Read: 2
ROHS analyzerIt is a device specifically designed to detect whether electronic devices comply with RoHS standards. The purpose of the ROHS directive is to reduce the harm of electronic and electrical waste to the environment and human health. The controlled substances mainly include lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, etc. With the update of the directive, the list of controlled substances may increase.
ROHS analyzerMainly using the following three detection techniques to cover different scene requirements:
X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF):
Principle: By exciting the sample with X-rays, the inner layer electrons of the element atoms transition and release characteristic X-rays, and the type and content of the element are determined based on energy and intensity.
Advantages: Features: Non destructive detection, fast and convenient (results can be obtained within a few minutes), no need for complex pre-processing, suitable for preliminary screening and rapid qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples, but the detection accuracy is slightly lower compared to laboratory methods, and the sensitivity for detecting light elements (such as cadmium) is limited.
Inductively Coupled Plasma Emission Spectroscopy:
Principle: Convert the sample into plasma and determine the type and content by detecting the spectral lines emitted by the elements.
Advantages: High sensitivity, high precision, suitable for complex sample analysis (such as trace heavy metals in metal components).
Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS):
Principle: After separating organic compounds from the sample, high sensitivity and selectivity analysis results are provided through mass spectrometry detection.
Advantages: High sensitivity and accurate qualitative detection of organic bromides, which are commonly used methods for detecting organic harmful substances, but also require complex sample pretreatment (such as extraction and purification).
