The XposeALI 3D In Vitro Cell Exposure Module combines aerosol capability with a 3D cell model cultured at the gas-liquid interface (ALI). It can study the cellular effects caused by particles in the air. Aerosols with inhalable particle size are generated by PreciseeHale and exposed to cells through the XposeALI 3D in vitro cell exposure module. The XposeALI 3D in vitro cell exposure module ensures that aerosols do not come into contact with cell culture media or contaminate the walls of the transwell chamber.

This module needs to be used in conjunction with the PreciseInhale aerosol generator, as shown in the figure below. Each module and host are produced by Inhalation Sciences Sweden AB (ISAB), an innovative instrument listed company headquartered in Sweden that provides analytical instruments and research services. Its products are mainly used for aerosol and inhalation formulation research.

XposeALI ensures that aerosols do not come into contact with cell culture media or contaminate the walls of the transwell chamber. Cells come into contact with the culture medium from below throughout the entire exposure process. After the aerosol exposure is completed, the cells are placed back in the incubator and incubated for an appropriate period of time, and the cell effects induced by aerosol exposure are studied by analyzing the cells or their culture medium.
