XRF-2020 Thickness Gauge Electroplated Coating Thickness Gauge Principle and Function

Convert the measurement thickness based on the intensity attenuation when X-rays penetrate the object being measured

Measure the amount of X-rays absorbed by the tested metal coating, based on the energy value of the X-rays

Determine the thickness of the tested component.

The received signal is converted into an electrical signal by the X-ray detection head and amplified by a preamplifier

Then it is converted by the dedicated thickness gauge operating system to display the intuitive actual thickness signal.

The intensity of the X-ray source is related to the emission intensity of the X-ray tube and the X-ray intensity absorbed by the measured object. A thickness within the system range can be calibrated using an X-ray detector to determine the required X-ray energy value. When detecting any special thickness, the system will set the energy value of X-rays to ensure smooth completion of the detection.


In the case of a certain thickness, the energy value of X-rays is constant. When the safety shutter is opened, X-rays will pass through the object being measured between the X-ray source and the probe. The object will absorb some of the energy, and the remaining X-rays will be received by the probe located directly above the X-ray source

The probe converts the received X-rays into an output voltage that is related to their magnitude.

If the thickness of the tested object is changed. The amount of X-rays absorbed will also change, which will cause a change in the amount of X-rays received by the probe and a corresponding change in the detection signal.
