Solid phase extraction column S

The capacity of the solid-phase extraction column refers to the adsorption capacity of the solid-phase extraction column packing. For S solid-phase extraction columns based on silica gel, their capacity is generally between 1~5mg/100mg, which means the column capacity is 1%~5% of the packing mass. The capacity of the bonded silica gel ion exchange adsorbent packing is expressed in meq/g, which means the capacity per gram of packing is X milliequivalents. The capacity of such fillers is usually between 0.5 and 1.5 meq/g.
When selecting an S solid-phase extraction column, the column capacity must be considered. Due to the complexity of the sample matrix we face, such as food, biological samples, etc., in solid-phase extraction, the solid-phase extraction adsorbent not only adsorbs the target compound, but also adsorbs impurities of the same nature. Therefore, when considering column capacity, the total amount of target compounds plus adsorbable impurities should not exceed the column capacity, otherwise some target compounds may not be adsorbed during the loading process, resulting in a low recovery rate.
