The separation and air drying of soil samples retrieved from the field are difficult to determine soil nutrients due to varying moisture content. Currently, most soil nutrients are measured using air dried soil, so the retrieved soil samples need to be air dried first. The specific method is to break the samples retrieved from the field into small pieces, pick out the stones and other debris, discard the excess parts according to the quartering method, retain about 500g, and air dry for later use. The method of quartering is to crush the collected soil samples, mix them thoroughly, and lay them in a square shape. Divide the diagonal into four parts, and then combine the two diagonal parts into one part. If there are still many soil samples obtained, the quartering method can be used again until the required quantity is reached.
